I always feel like somebody's watching me, tell me is it just a dream

april 13th,   1998

THE MORNING SUN lit up the small dorm room as loud, cheerful chatter came from the college campus outside. But this wasn't what woke the girl in bed. No, it was the shrill ringing of the telephone beside her.

Sidney sat up with a tired groan, one hand running down her face while the other brushed through her shortened hair.

Reaching over to the loud telephone, Sidney grabbed it, bringing it to her ear. Her voice was groggy as she spoke, "Hello?"

There was a moment of silence before a man on the other side responded, "Hello?"

"Yes?" Sidney yawned, unfazed by the voice on the other side of the line as she stretched.

"What's your favorite scary movie?"

The brunette rolled her eyes. "Who is this?" she asked, bored. How unoriginal, Sidney thought.

"You tell me."

Without a second's hesitation, Sidney grabbed a small device hooked up to the phone, her eyes scanning it before replying.

"Cory Gills," she said, unfazed, a tiredness in her eyes that had been there since she began receiving these prank calls. "555-0176."

"Shit."

Sidney continued, "Hot flash, Cory-prank phone calls are a criminal offense prosecuted under penal code 653M-"

Pausing, Sidney pulled the phone away from her ear, hearing the satisfying click as the person hung up.

"Hope you enjoyed the movie," she sighed, putting the phone back on the receiver.

Hallie, her college roommate and one of her closest friends since moving to Windsor, walked into the room, placing a hand on her hip, dressed in her bathrobe. "Time to change numbers again?" she asked sympathetically.

"No," Sidney shook her head, the sleep starting to wear off. "It'll die off. It's opening weekend, so let's see how it goes."

Since Gale had published her book on the Woodsboro murders, Sidney and Kathryn had both been receiving prank calls from random strangers trying to be funny and humorous. All thanks to Gale's depiction of them during that night when Billy and Stu made their movie.

Well, they got what they wanted. Because now, there was a movie. It had premiered last night, and the prank calls were only going to get worse.

Thankfully, Sidney had her friends - or what was left of them. Hallie had been a great support, and at times, she reminded her of Tatum, whom she'd always miss dearly. Randy was still his usual, dorky self, but now, he was much more cautious of his surroundings, given everything they'd been through.

And Kathryn, well... she was grieving in her own way, even if it was in ways Sidney and Randy didn't particularly agree with.

But what could they do? She had lost so much that night, almost including her life.

Hallie shrugged and turned on the living room TV, still slightly hungover as she made her way around the dorm as Sidney freshened up behind her.

Last night had been a bit foggy for Hallie, who had joined Kathryn and her friend Jaylyn at a sorority party to celebrate Kathryn's nineteenth birthday. Sidney, on the other hand, had stayed back, not being a big fan of house parties anymore.
