NEWS SPREAD QUICKLY about the events at the sorority house last night, and Kathryn felt a storm of emotions. The killer was back, and he was coming for her.
But things had changed. She wasn't the same naive seventeen-year-old girl she was in Woodsboro. This time, she wouldn't back down without a fight.
Kathryn's eyes narrowed in intense concentration, the top of her shirt covering her nose as she worked on the wall with a can of red paint, Jaylyn beside her doing the same.
"Alright, I think this should be good," Jaylyn sighed, hopping down from the stool as they both stepped back to admire their work. "What do you think?"
Kathryn's blue eyes scanned the freshly painted brick wall at the back of their school, a grin tugging at her lips. "It's fucking cool as hell."
A spray-painted image of Ghostface glared back at them, a bold red 'X' slashed across his face, with the words "boo hoo, wanna-be Ghost-bitch" scrawled in sloppy white underneath. Jaylyn's input, of course.
"Okay, we should probably dip," Jaylyn announced, stuffing their things into a bag. "The school is flooded with cops and reporters, and I, for one, would not survive in jail."
Kathryn nodded, giving the wall one last glance before grabbing her tote bag and following Jaylyn toward the front of the school.
After last night, Kathryn, Sidney, and the others had all been questioned about Cici's murder at Omega Beta Zeta. It was a brutal reminder that their world had been shattered all over again, thanks to some maniac in a mask.
All Kathryn hoped was that nobody she loved would get hurt again.
Jaylyn's voice snapped her out of her thoughts. "I'm gonna head back to the dorm. You coming?"
"Nah, I'm gonna swing by the station to see Dewey," Kathryn replied, noticing Jaylyn's confused expression.
"Everything alright?"
Kathryn nodded, mustering a smile, even if it didn't feel entirely true. "Yeah, I just have a few things to talk about."
Once outside the dormitory, the girls shared a quick hug before Jaylyn shot Kathryn a serious look, her smile fading.
"Be safe, okay? I can't have anything happen to you. You're the only person-"
"-the only person here you don't hate," Kathryn teased, grabbing Jaylyn's hands, her smile softening. "I know, and I'll be fine! I'm going to a police station, for crying out loud. It's probably the safest place in the world. You know, guns and shit."
Jaylyn huffed, her expression skeptical but smiley. "Kat, you're a literal magnet for chaos. If a safe place exists, you'd find a way to set it on fire."
Kathryn laughed, nudging her shoulder. "What can I say? I learned from the best."
"I mean it." Jaylyn's voice softened. "I just... don't want to lose you. Or whatever."
Kathryn's eyes flickered with amusement as she playfully put a hand on her chest. "Is the Jaylyn Annabelle Steele being nice... to me? This sky must have fallen."
Jaylyn forced back her smile, rolling her eyes and shoving Kathryn lightly. "Yeah, okay, don't make it weird. I take it back."
"Too late." Kathryn grinned, grabbing Jaylyn's shoulders and shaking them dramatically. "You care about me. It's official. I'm telling everyone. Even Mrs. Ford, and she hates you."
