Claire's face smacks against a hard, but strangely fuzzy object. Her eyes flutter open to see a big... butt? Quickly she scrambled away from what looked like a tall boy, only to crash into something else. What is going on? She thought, completely confused. Claire looked up and her breath was gone.

She had landed on top of a group of about 15 people inside of a log cabin. The door was wide open, and although she could only see a small part of the new world she had just landed in, it was absolutely gorgeous. Just the colors made her want to cry.

A bright blue sky, clear of clouds but full of sunshine was sitting on top of the greenest grass she had ever seen. The fresh and sweet smelling field was dotted with beautiful purple wildflowers just begging to be picked. Claire turned around to see a big gray hole in the wall cabin. That's when the overwhelming surge of memories hit her.

She stumbled to get out of the way of people and backed up to the corner of the room. Once she felt the soft wood hit her back, she let her self slide down the wall into a sitting position. Claire put her head in her lap and her hands over her ears, trying to block out the noise of the other teenagers. Memories about her home life, her parents her friends, the tests. Memories about the maze and the girls and the trials and patterns. Memories about escaping, only to be captured again. Memories about the cranks, and the right arm. Memories about Teresa. Her only friend from recent events. Now she's gone. Dead. It was all too much for Claire to process.

Minutes, maybe hours passed before Claire found the strength to get up. The real reason she even moved was the unmistakable smell of food. She hadn't eaten in a long time, and her stomach eventually pulled her out of hiding. She looked around the big cabin, with rotting wood walls, which by now was empty. She slowly walked towards the door, keeping her hand on the wall. It was terrible what sitting in one position for hours could do to your muscles.

Before she even opened the door she could hear shouts and laughs coming from the outside. For some reason, that made Claire want to stay inside and away from anyone and everyone, but eventually her stomach gained control over her mind and she slowly turned the cold metal knob and stepped outside.
