Joe

"Come on..." I stood with my phone against my ear, tapping my foot, attempting to call Nick.

"Uh, hey, Joe, what's up?" He finally answered.

"Jesus Christ, Nicholas, it's about time-"

"BA DUM TSST-"

"Jeez, Nick, let it go," I heard a girl laughing in the background. "Wait, who are you with?"

"Why does it matter?"

"Nicholas Jonas, are you with a girl?"

"I'm with Ronnie, calm yourself, Joseph. What do you want?"

"Oh, well is Aubrey with you guys?"

"Yes, because Aubrey totally knows I'm close to her sister."

"Lose the sarcasm. Where is she?"

"She's at school, why?" Ronnie answered.

"Wait, it's a Tuesday. Shouldn't you be?"

"Look at your watch, Joe. High school doesn't end at 4 pm."

"Right well-

"Shit," I hear on the other end of Nick's phone. "Joe, hold on, my sister and- uh, my sister's here. Nick, you have to go."

"Wait, wait, are you guys at your house?"

"Yes, why? Nick hide!"

"Are you guys fucking?" I said with a smirk on my face. My little brother and Ronnie? Good for him.

"No, Jesus, Joe," Nick again. "Look, dude, I'll call you - ow, Ronnie! - I'll call you back,"

"No, I'm headed over," I said as I got up and grabbed my car keys.

"Are you fucking nuts? Absolutely not, she can't know we're this close to Ronnie, goodbye. Do. Not. Come."

End.

"Ugh!" I threw my keys on the floor and sat back on my couch.

I dialed Ronnie.

"Hello?" A man's voice answered.

"Uh, this isn't Ronnie?"

"No, man, this is her sister's boyfriend, who's this?"

Fucking Travis.

End.

I began a text to Nick.

"Travis is there? Is that why you don't want me there?"

"Jesus, Joe. No, how do you even know he's here? They're about to leave, anyways."

"I called Ronnie. Why does he have Ronnie's phone?"

"She left it downstairs, she just got it. They're gone. Would you like to come over now?"

I locked my phone and grabbed my car keys again.

-----

"Hello, Joseph," Ronnie opened the door with a grin.

"Aubrey is still dating Travis?" I asked as I walked through the familiar doorway.

"Yes," she sighed. "But I don't think it'll last long. Why are you here?"

"Why is he here?" I pointed at my brother.

"I don't know, maybe because Nick and I were always closer than I was to you?"

I sighed. "I know, you're right, I'm sorry. This whole situation just has me on edge."
