   Lily's POV:

I was giving myself four days. It seemed like the right amount of time I had left.

So the next day when I woke up, I told Trace I wanted to spend it with just mom. He understood.

So I spent the whole day watching chick flicks, making and eating as much junk food as we could, and she even did my hair and make up and took me shopping like she always wanted to do.

"Lily, I want you to know that I'm sorry for all the trouble I've caused you. Secretly, I've been so proud of you. I knew you were struggling, and I was so proud that you made it through." Mom said.

We were sitting on the couch watching our favorite movie, Lady and the Tramp. I nodded.

        "I'm glad." I said.

The next day was all Lydias. She told me that she'd try to be strong. We spent the whole day running around the park, acting like we did in first grade again. Amazingly, my legs never gave out. I had given all my energy for her though. She was one of the best friends I could ask for.

We were sitting on the swings, and I turned to her.

"Lydia, when I die, I want you to be happy. Not happy that I died obviously, but I don't want you to go and do something stupid. Give yourself a chance with Patrick. He's a good guy, he'll take care of you." I said. She nodded.

        "I know." She said.

She gave me a tight hug and I heard her sob.

"I don't want you to gooo!!!" She sobbed. Unexpected tears came to my eyes, and I hugged her tight.

"I'll still be with you." I whispered.

The next day was just for Patrick. He told me he wouldn't be sulky the whole day, but I could tell he was sad. We spent the day just walking on a nature trail, since we both loved nature. He held my hand the whole time. We spent time just talking, but staying far from the subject of my condition.

"Patrick, I want you to promise me something." I said. He looked over at me with a pained expression.

        "Anything." He said.

"I want you and Lydia to take care of each other. When I'm gone." I said. He shook his head.

"You're gonna make it Lily. I mean, look, your legs haven't even given out yet." He said. I sighed.

        "Patrick..." I said. Tears came.

"Lily you aren't dying. You're getting better." He said. I put my hands on his shoulders.

"Listen to me! I'm dying Patrick! And I need to know that you guys will be okay!" I said. He bent his head down. I hugged him tight, and I let him hug me back.

"You know, even though I declared the contest a tie, I still think you won." He whispered. I smiled, thinking back to our swinging contest.

"Bull shit." I said. He laughed and kissed me lightly, just a friendly gesture.

        "I promise." He said.

I was going to miss my friends dearly. So, so so so badly.
