Lily's POV:
"Okay. I'm all yours. Let's go." I said to Trace the next morning. He nodded solemnly, and mom waved goodbye to us with tears in her eyes.
We drove to our old treehouse. And sat inside. I brought out the basket of paints and coloring and art supplies.
"Let's be pirates one more time." I said, smiling at him.
It was our favorite game when we were little. I was always the princess, and he was the captain. We painted the floor blue like the ocean, getting paint all over ourselves. I had my hair in a pony tail and up in a hat so I wouldn't get paint in it. I had a tiara that I used when I was little.
Trace wore a pirate's hat and an eye patch. We even brought out the wooden swords and had a sword fight.
After we were done and painted all over, I asked him to take me to a tattoo parlor. He looked at me weird but did anyway.
I told him we were getting tattoos. His eyes widened since he was terrified of needles, but nodded anyway.
We each got a tattoo of words that formed a half of a heart. And when I touched my arm to his, side by side, both formed a whole heart. The words on each arm were "Follow me. I'll follow you".
At the end of the day we went back home, and into the basement. I was exhausted from spending four days on my feet and moving around. That must've been Ash's gift to me. Strength.
We sat on the couch, eating dad's special popcorn. As we ate it, I turned to Trace.
"Ya know, I always hated this stuff. But I ate it because dad liked it." I said to him. He laughed.
"Me too. This tastes like shit." He said, taking another handful. I laughed too.
I felt something....I don't know what. Like, myself getting weaker. I looked at Trace, and smiled sadly.
"Can you take me upstairs?" I asked. His eyes widened and he nodded.
He carried me upstairs, and lay me down on my bed. I took his hand and smiled.
"Thanks for giving me the best day Trace. Out of all four, the one with you was my favorite." I said. He smiled, tears running down.
"You're just saying that." He said. I smiled.
"No. I'm not." I said.
He sobbed, putting his head on my bed. I stroked his hair.
"Hey, none of that yet. Lay down with me." I said. He climbed in next to me and took me in his arms.
"Ash said to me to tell you not to do anything stupid. So don't go killing yourself when I'm gone. Okay?" I asked. He nodded.
"I'll try." He said. I looked at him.
"No, you need to promise. Don't try anything." I said. He took a deep breath and nodded.
"Okay. I promise." He said. I kissed him on the cheek.
"Good. I love you Trace." I said. He nodded.
"I love you more." He said.
"Not possible."
"Very possible."
"We love eachother equally then."
"Duh." I said. He smiled.
He kissed me on the forehead, and I smiled, closing my eyes.
I let myself go.
Trace's POV:
I felt her sigh, and she fell asleep. I checked her pulse, my heart beat quickening. It wasn't there.
I hugged her tight, crying. My only sister.
Dead now.
But at least I got to spend a whole day with her.
That's all that matters.
I held her tighter, not caring that I got her face wet. Not caring that I was gonna leave a few bruises. I took her arms and kissed each scar, wishing that none of this had happened.
"I love you Lily. I'll keep you forever." I said, holding her close.
