Everyone around you looks horrified for some reason, although you're not really sure what the big deal is. It's not like you're the only person here with superhuman abilities. That's literally what Quirks are. Then again, you suppose it's further proof of how truly amazing your regeneration is. Anyway, they're free to stop and stare as long as they'd like.
You've got a Sports Festival to win.
Without even bothering to look back, you dash underneath the next giant robot that attacks. Unlike the others, you have no reason to fear getting hurt, and time is of the essence. Shouto already has a massive lead. If you hesitate, you'll get left behind. You came here to give it your all. To make Aizawa and Present Mic proud.
And so, you run, fearless and undaunted. It's obviously not that pain doesn't affect you. Of course, you have a much higher tolerance for it than the average person, but you certainly don't enjoy getting hurt. Nobody enjoys getting hurt. Well... apart from those so-called masochists or whatever, but your point still stands. Although you may very well be practically unkillable, that doesn't mean you never feel afraid. It's just that you've already experienced the most frightening thing imaginable, at USJ, when Aizawa almost died. You've experienced the pain of nearly losing someone you love.
Compared to that, there's nothing-absolutely nothing that could ever evoke the same fear.
You keep pressing onward, not flinching once. Shouto is still pretty far in the lead, and other students that have high-mobility Quirks, like Katsuki, Sero, Iida, and a few others, are also advancing steadily. You're curious about how Izuku is faring, but no. You can't look back. You can't afford to get distracted.
"...ah, shit."
The next obstacle that you run into doesn't really suit you that well. Countless platforms are scattered apart from each other, connected only by a thin rope that students can use in order to cross, or of course, they can choose to forgo the rope entirely if their Quirk allows it. Once again, people like Katsuki are at a massive advantage. You probably won't place very high in the obstacle course, so you need to at least pass and secure a place in the next round. You're holding out until later. Your Quirk will be able to truly shine once you get to the one-on-one battles. You just need to make sure you actually make it that far.
"You look like you're deep in thought," a voice suddenly calls out to you. You turn your head to find Shinsou standing beside you. Except... he's not really standing. He's being carried on the backs of several other students.
"Oh," you blink. "Are they your friends? They're helping carry you across?"
"Something like that," Shinsou chuckles softly.
"Would your friends be willing to give me a lift too?"
"Nice try. I want to win, remember? But I'm sure you'll make it to the finish line even without my help. Either way... good luck."
Shinsou cracks a grin, which seriously reminds you so much of Aizawa. The resemblance is uncanny. Then he crosses the chasm, thanks to the Quirk of one of the students who's "helping" him out. You're still wondering what Shinsou's own powers are. It hasn't clicked that you just saw his Quirk in action, right then and there.
You don't have any time to dwell on it. Your hyper-regeneration isn't the only thing you take pride in. Aizawa personally trained you himself, for many years, and your physical abilities were already well above average to begin with. Dr. Garaki may be a crazy piece of shit, but he wasn't lying when he said you were a masterpiece. You are the single greatest creation of his lifetime. He called you a faulty product, but the truth is that you're so much more incredible that he could ever have imagined. You are a miracle that defies all expectations.
