Chapter Thirty-Four

"Sage..." I said, walking into her room. She was about to take off her work shirt.

"What's the result?" She asked. I had just taken a pregnancy test because my period hadn't come in two months. I gulped.

"Positive... I'm pregnant..." I said. Sage sighed and slowly nodded. I sat on the floor and cuddled Bug, who had followed me. He started purring.

"Okay... Its okay. Everything will be okay." Sage said. "Tell Ed." I sighed. Oh god... He will leave me when he finds out... I shook my head.

"No..."

"What? Why?"

"He will leave me..."

"Nonsense! He will help you!"

"No..." I said. Dad and Fitz will know what to do... I've gotta go home... "I'm going home..."

~time lapse~

"Ed. I'm going home." I said. Ed sat on the end of my bed. He looked shocked.

"To America?" He asked.

"Yeah." I replied.

"Why?" He asked. I gulped. Fuck... Should I tell him I'm pregnant? I shook my head slightly.

"I miss my family." I lied. "And I want to go to college in America." It really hurt to lie to him like this, but I knew it was for his own good. He can't know he got me pregnant... It'll ruin his career...

"But why can't you go and visit them then come back?" Ed whined. "I love you and need you here with me..." I shook my head slowly.

"I can't stay... But you could come with me?" I offered. Maybe he won't leave if he is in America with me. Ed frowned.

"I can't... Michael... We were gonna become famous together..." Ed whispered. I felt my heart ripping in half. Goddamnit... Not here... Not now...

"Okay. I understand. Even if The A Team is famous enough already." I said mentioning his popular song and leaning against the wall. I sighed. Ed looked hurt.

"If you can't stay..." He said. He crawled closer to me and cuddled my legs. "Then I guess I'll have to give you something so you'll never forget me." I grabbed his hand and held it tightly. If only you knew...

~time lapse~

Sage drove Ed and I for a few hours out to a beach that he loved. Then she left us and said she would be in the town and to call when we needed her to come back. Ed and I walked along the sand bar. It was nice and the weather was decent too.

"So why are we here?" I asked. Ed shrugged and reached for my hand.

"I just wanted to have one last adventure with you before you left." He replied, holding my hand. I smiled and leaned over to kiss him. As I did, he turned to face me and I kissed his lips, perfectly. I could taste the salty sea on them.

"Ed, I love you." I said. I leaned against his shoulder.

"I love you too Reggie." He replied.

We walked up and down the beach. While we did that, Ed hummed a little tune and was scanning the rocks for something. I didn't know what, but whatever it was, it was making him happier.

"Do you think you're going to miss me?" I asked him. He nodded.

"Probably until the day I die." He replied, still staring at the rocks.

"Not possible." I said. "You'll find some girl and forget all about me Ed." He looked at me for a split second.

"Yeah, I'll probably date other girls, but I'll never love anyone like I love you." He said. "I'll always love you more." Then he looked back at the rocks.

"I'll miss you more." I said. I thought about the future. Raising a child, Ed's child, with out Ed. It hurt so much. I wish I could tell him... I wish he could know... "A lot more."

Suddenly, Ed stopped walking and crouched down to pick up a rock. "Perfect..." He muttered. It was an oddly shaped pebble. Ed took out a really sharp knife and started to carve the pebble.

"What are you doing?"

"You'll see."

After fifteen minutes of talking and carving, Ed showed me what it was. It was a heart. And there was a hole in it. Then Ed pulled a string from his pocket and looped it through the hole. As he tied it, I realized it was a necklace.

"Here." He said. He leaned over me and put it around my neck. It fit perfectly. When Ed leaned away, I saw he was crying.

"Ed?" I said, sadly.

"You're beautiful, Reggie..." He said. He was messing with something in his pocket. "I'm really going to miss you..."

"Ed... What's in your pocket...?" I asked. He slowly pulled it out. It was a ring. I gasped.

"I was going to ask..." He said. "But... I know what you'll say now..." He looked me in the eyes. "I just want you to know that I will never ever forget you, Regina Lee Meyer."

"I won't ever forget you either Edward Christopher Sheeran..."

~time lapse~

"You be good, little Bug. Okay?" I said to the little furball. I was cradling him in my arms. He was purring, but clearly knew something was wrong. "I'll miss you. And you'll always be my first baby." I whispered.

I set the little cat down and wheeled my luggage out of the room. Henry stood at the top of the stairs, waiting to help me carry the stuff down to the pub. "Thanks." I said.

"Its okay." He replied. "I am sad that we didn't know each other very long but I think I will miss you."

"Okay." I said.

Down in the pub, it was closed. Nobody was allowed in that day. Not until I was gone. Anthony and Flora were standing by the bar. When I walked over to them, Flora hugged me.

"I'm gonna miss ya, Reggie." She said. Then Anthony hugged me awkwardly.

"I'll miss you as well." He said. "And Ed will too."

"I'll miss you guys too." I said. I frowned. Ed didn't come to say goodbye because we both knew he wouldn't be able to let me go. I turned and saw Sage by the back door. "I'm ready..."

"Come on, poppet..." She said, leading me outside to her car. The drive to the airport was short, but silent. When we got out of the car, Sage hugged me tightly, crying. "You have no idea how much I will miss you."

"I'll miss you too Sage." I said, squeezing her back. "Thank you for everything." I turned and slowly walked to the building with all my luggage. As I opened the door, I heard Sage call out to me.

"I hope we woke you up, Reggie! Never forget us!"
