It was almost funny to (M/N). When they appeared, striding out from the trees, they weren't what he was expecting. The image of the wolves was stuck in his head, but these were just four half naked boys. They really did look a lot like brothers. They all had prominent muscles and short black hair.

They started out curious and cautious. But when they saw (M/N) and Bella, they all became furious in the same second.

"What have you done, Jacob?" Sam demanded.

One of the others–either Jared or Paul–moved past Sam and spoke before Jacob could defend himself.

"Why can't you just follow the rules, Jacob?" he yelled. "What the hell are you thinking? Are they more important than everything–than the whole tribe? Than people getting killed?"

"They can help," Jacob said quietly.

The angry boy scoffed, his arms started to shake. "Oh, that's likely! I'm sure the leech-lovers are just dying to help us out!"

"Watch your mouth!" Jacob shouted back.

A shudder rippled through the other boy.

"Paul! Relax!" Sam commanded.

Paul took deep breaths as he tried to calm himself. When he glared at the two teens, Jacob took a step to put himself in front of them.

That seemed to set Paul off.

"Right, protect them!" he roared in outrage. Another shudder, a convulsion, heaving through his body. He fell forward, and in less than a second, his body exploded into that of a grey wolf's. The wolf's muzzle wrinkled back over his teeth, a growl rolled through his colossal chest. His dark, enraged eyes flickering between (M/N) and Bella.

Not moments later, Jacob was running across the road straight towards the monster. One second it was Jacob who leaped forward, the next it was the gigantic russet brown wolf, shreds of his clothing floating in the air, as he charged towards the crouched grey beast. Their angry snarls echoed like thunder off the trees as they collided.

"Jacob!" Bella screamed, staggering forward.

(M/N) was so caught up in the fight he nearly didn't grab her in time. "Bella, don't!"

"Stay where you are," Sam ordered them. It was almost impossible to hear him over the roar of the fighting wolves. They were snapping and tearing at each other, their teeth flashing towards each other's throats. The Jacob-wolf seemed to have the upper hand–he was visibly larger than the Paul-wolf, and stronger, too, it seemed. He rammed his shoulder against the grey wolf, knocking him back into the trees.

"Take them to Emily's," Sam shouted to the other boys as the two wolves disappeared into the forest, their snarls continuing. Sam ran after them, kicking his shoes off. Shortly after he disappeared, the sounds cut off completely.

Embry laughed. "Well there's something you don't see every day."

(M/N) wasn't used to Embry's change in appearance. He used to see the boy all the time at Jacob's house. He looked way different now, but he assumed that was something every werewolf went through before transformation.

"I do," Jared grumbled. "Every single day."

"Paul doesn't lose his temper every day," Embry said. "Maybe two out of three."

Jared started collecting various pieces of fabric from the dirt. "Get Sam's shoes, will you? All the rest is headed for the trash."

After cleaning up, they guided the teens back to their truck.
