Ding!

"Switch please!" The host of the singles night speed dating event announces over the microphone.

Thank fucking God its almost over, you thought as the next guy switches over. The whole night has been a pretty big failure and none of the five guys earlier caught your eye. Most of them were either too young and immature, and the few that were your age were just a little too eager – as if this was a game of musical chairs and they were the left overs. This is too depressing, you thought. At 29 years old, you thought you'd be married by now, have a kid and a mortgage. In real life nothing ever happens as planned and your fiance admitting he was gay and leaving you for another man was just a shock to the system that you did not see coming. Maybe because you let the hints go over your head – his love for Madonna, gymnastics and antiquing. You thought his interests were just quirky and original – well until you caught him with the flamboyant antique salesman that always gave you discounts. Special customer discount my ass – well you didn't think he'd be tapping your fiance's ass, so you were glad about the 10% discount he always gave you. It was probably a blessing in disguise that you found out he was gay before you married him. It would save you from further heartbreak, you thought.

"Hi I'm Chen!"

This boy – yes from the looks of it he is very much under 25 – plops down in the seat across from you. He flashes a megawatt smile as he looks you directly in the eye – he's pretty intense with that stare, damn what is it with this kid? You glance down at your watch, to avoid his gaze – Five more minutes of this and I can leave this place...

"Do you have somewhere else you have to be after this?" Chen asks inquisitively.

"Uh? No, I was just checking the time – you know? This is a timed date and I just want to make sure that-..."

"Look, I know the deal when I got here," Chen says cutting you off. "Don't worry, I like older women, and you're my type."

"Um, Exactly how old do you think I am?"

Well, well, well – this kid, "Chen" is pretty straight-forward huh? The last thing you needed was more mind games – you've had enough of that with the ex-fiance, so this was intriguing.

"I would say 27? Am I right?" Chen raises his eyebrow and grins.

FUCK – he is a cute one. I wonder how old this kid is – please be over 21, PLEASE!

"Close, but not quite – I'm 29. How old are you?"

"I'm only 23, but I feel like I'm more mature than people my age, and I think we'd have fun together."

The bastard grins again – You're a sucker for handsome guys with great smiles – Finally someone that grabbed your attention! Oh and he's 23, only six years age gap, you can work with that, you thought.

"May I ask why you'd want to date someone older than you?"

"I just find that older women know what they want, they don't waste time playing silly mind games. I'm here for fun, aren't you?"

Fantastic! Fun is what you came in this bar to seek and fun is what you're going to get. You deserve some fun after the fiasco your ex-fiance put you through and this cutie pie "Chen" seems pretty eager to give you some fun...hmm, Why the hell not?

"Yeah definitely! I'm pretty busy with work, and I don't have time to find dates so this little speed date event seemed like a solution to that."

"It is – and how convenient! Lots of beautiful and interesting women come here, and I'd rather much meet women with a brain, than drunk co-eds at a bar. You know what I mean?"

The boy is racking up points, only two minutes before the "date" ends and you had to seal the deal – cute smile – check, nice body – check, seems normal enough – check. SOLD.

"Right, right...well let's see, I'm free this weekend so here's my number. Let's get to know each other and we'll go from there – deal?

"Deal, its a date then! Oh by the way – do you like sushi?"

"I adore sushi!"

You LOVED sushi – things are looking up!

Ding! - the final bell rings to signal the end of SeoulDate Speed Date Night.

"Noona, I'll give you a call.", Chen says as he gets up to leave.

You cringe a bit... "Noona"

This weekend should be very interesting.
