it was quiet.
not the uncomfortable one where your eyes keep dodging around and your hands become clammy, or the awkward one where you constantly shift in your place to feel slightly less awkward.
it was a peaceful quietness.
one you feel when you sit in a long grassed field alone in the evening of late April, the wind brushing through your hair like a mother lulling their dear child to sleep. one you feel when swimming in a lukewarm river in the heat of summer as a sudden wave of rain comes through, each dropping in with a sound of their own, announcing their arrival and you just accept it with open arms as you float through the silence—just you and the world.
that's what she felt; like she was the only person in the world.
it was so quiet, so peaceful. She was floating, she didn't know how, but she felt good. she was swimming through the air as if she were a mermaid in the middle of a clear blue ocean. her surrounding was filled with large beautiful clouds projecting themselves in various shapes that made her giggle slightly at the hilariousness of some of them. She twirled around herself before settling on one giant puffy cloud that looked so much like a combination of marshmallow and cotton candy. she was so happy that it was able to hold her weight as she made herself comfortable.
looking around her, she realized how nice it is to be alone in a world so bright. sighing, she leaned back and let her eyes rest as the warmth of the sun lulled her to sleep.
but then suddenly- so cold.
her heart dropped.
she was falling.
she was falling so fast into a dark blue darkness that was completely the opposite of what she was experiencing just moments ago.
Her mouth opened, she needed to scream, this was too scary for her.
but no sound left her, not even a whimper.
her hands and legs were extended out in hopes of catching into something to stop her free fall. but it was to no avail.
the more she fell, the more it came into view, darkness.
it was a little hole, that became bigger and bigger the more she fell.
slowly, her surroundings turned black, it felt like she was falling into a black hole.
and then -her body slammed into an invisible wall, smashing her every bone and turning her into a mush of flesh and blood-
-A gasp had her jerking awake as she stood up on the bed, almost falling off of it if it weren't for two strong arms holding her in place.
her skin carried a layer of sweat, and her eyes were blood red as they scanned around in a hurry.
"Hey, hey, hey... I got you. It's okay," a voice belonging to a male tried to soothe her from what seemed like a nightmare.
She was panting, like she had walked a marathon just before sitting on the bed. her heart beat so fast and loud, it was visible through her shirt, and with every beat, her shirt moved slightly forward.
"You're good. Everything's good," she finally looked up to the voice speaking to her, a man, he carried a displeased expression, a frown, and there was a hint of fear in his eyes, or maybe it was the bad lightning because it was only visible for a second, and she never saw it again.
"..bin?" Fyona tried to call his name. But barely the second half of his name was voiced. It had been so long since she had used her voice, she didn't know how long, but based on how damaged her vocal cords seemed, it may have been long.
