Max's POV
"Hey, Max," Sarah greeted as I walked towards her and Diana.
"Hey. Are you guys ready for tonight?" I questioned.
"Our bags are packed and sitting by the door."
"And I have all the food and drinks out and ready. You?"
"Board games are in the closet and I have enough space cleared out for all of us to put sleeping bags in the living room."
"Perfect."
We continued walking and talking until we got to Alyssa's house. We walked up and knocked on her door. She answered looking like she had been running around.
"Are you okay?" Diana asked. She and Alyssa had fixed things when we were out at Tremp last week, talking. Diana apologized for being irrational and things went back to normal.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I've just been getting stuff ready for tonight."
"Are you done?"
"Almost. I just have to put everything by the door. Give me one minute." She ran upstairs and came back down with a duffel bag in her hand before running to the living room to grab the movies. The stack started as far down as her hands could reach while she was standing straight and ended at her chin.
"Do you really think we need that many movies?" Sarah held back a laugh.
"You can never be too safe. We don't want to get bored."
"With that many movies and all of the board games at my house, there's no chance of that."
"Then I'm ready to go to school." She grabbed her backpack and followed us out.
"Do you know where Cameron is?" I looked at Alyssa.
She shook her head. "No. He didn't come by. Maybe we'll find him on the way to school."
"Girls! Wait up!" We heard Cameron call from behind us. We looked back to see him running toward us. We stopped and let him catch up to us.
He was totally out of breath by the time he got to us. "Do you have everything ready for tonight?"
"Yep. We just have to check in with Dalton, make sure he has what he said he'd bring."
"He will. Have faith in my boyfriend."
As soon as we got to school, Dalton walked up to us to talk about that night. "Hey, are you guys ready for your first full moon as mermaids?"
"As ready as we can be. We don't even know how tonight is going to go down if we fail."
"You don't have to worry about that because we won't fail. I know how to take every precaution possible."
"Don't you still get hit by moon beams when you do?"
"Sometimes, yes when something goes wrong, but nothing will go wrong tonight."
"How do you know? You can't tell the future."
"I just have feeling. Trust me."
"You are the expert."
Jackson approached us. "Hi. Are you ready for the full moon?"
"We have all of our supplies ready, so I guess."
"The plan for tonight: the moon rises at about nine o'clock, so we need to be to Max's house to set up by eight, us mermaids and merman will stay indoors all night, and the humans will come over and hang with us until we go to sleep in case we see the moon and go nuts."
