Chapter 1
Shillings Care Home For Girls. A place where there are the delinquents', then there's the delicates, the little children whom no one wants and then there's me, Aria Cortez, simply a nobody. I lost count how many times I've moved from one place to another. Over the last few years, I have been in many different care homes and foster homes and I've never met any of their expectations, I wasn't the one they wanted. They chose upon looks but they got the worst!
At first, I wept a lot, isolated myself as I just wanted to be left alone to grieve. Then I tried making a name in the care home I had been placed. However as time went on I began to realise that nobody cared about you here, if you don't have family or friends in the system then you're better off alone to keep to yourself, plus your most likely to move very quickly so is there any real point trying to get on in a place so dull?
"You're the new kid, right?" The first time I got asked this I replied 'what do you care?' Never again! I learned from my mistake, it left me with a very bad reputation and it lasted throughout my entire stay and because of it, it attracted the bullies who were more supreme then me. So this time I simply nodded.
"You're a cheerful one! I drew the shortest straw so you're bunking with me; don't overstay your welcome. You don't want to know what happened to my last roommate," Wow, I did not know I could meet a nicer person then this standing in front of me! "Upstairs, take a right, Make your way to the end of the corridor and the door to your left is where you are staying! Oh and do not touch my stuff or any ones or else you aren't gonna make it here for that long"
Thanks! I do know, I'm not new to this. Oh and yeah I cannot wait to share a room with you, it'll be so fun, we could paint each other's nails and have nightly sleep over's in our Nights...
All right so I may be extremely sarcastic but it comes naturally and sometimes I'll say it aloud without noticing and it has led to trouble in the past.
I directed myself to the exact directions given. Quite a few times I've ended up being given the wrong directions on purpose and it's caused a fight and me being me, I was to week to fight back. Unfortunately, I still am. In a place like this, fighting is a key skill for survival.
"Have you heard? About the so-called "field trip" that we all have to go to. Maybe that's a little lie as the whole dimwits' in this place have to stay back and attend extra tuition whilst we spend our two weeks Christmas holidays at some place that even my ancestors would have never heard of!"
A trip, I guess I am most likely staying back. There is no way that I'll be allowed to go when they see my grades. It's probably for the best as there are only a few days left until the Christmas holidays.
"Yeah I've heard of it but you heard the news about the new girl? We haven't had a new girl since two years ago. I think Brianna never heard the conversation between the staff, let's be honest because this place is more likely to close down than get a new person coming in and Brianna is just a freaking liar!
"I took a glance into the room, what shocked me was that there were two teenage girls who looked around the age of 14 and the fact that they looked so starved and like they haven't eaten for days, what is this place? Do they really want to spend a lot of money on sending the girls here to a Christmas trip when they have bloody starving girls here?
"It's rude to eavesdrop! You should be taught some discipline. I'm Caitlyn Rose. I work here and you might want to leave your bags in your room and keep your stuff safe as we do not have any responsibility if you begin to lose your precious belongings. And you might want to come down and catch some lunch! There are quite a few people in this house and the neighbouring boy's facility also come to catch their lunch so you might want to grab something before it runs out"
