The Alpha Female's Mate (Girl x Girl)

Chapter 25- Ashlyn's POV

I knocked on the door to Georgie's room and pushed open the door, even though my mate didn't say anything. "It's me," I said while I entered the room, and my mate breathed a small sigh of relief when I said that, "and I brought Dr. Laurene with me."

My mate looked at the door and watched as we entered the room. She had a tired smile on her face and looked between the two of us before she solely looked at me. "Hi," she said, her voice barely above a whisper while she nudged both her sister and brother awake.

Both twins groaned in annoyance and furrowed their brows, but they didn't move or wake up when she nudged them. They didn't say a word while they were asleep, and my mate rolled her eyes and pressed her lips into a thin line.

"Wake up, you two," she said with an amused voice and started to nudge them awake. "You two need to get up because the doctor is here to make sure that I am healthy and well. Ok?" She raised an eyebrow in question, nudging them some more.

They whined but did what they were told to do and opened their eyes. They blinked and blinked again before they wiped their eyes, looking very exhausted, even though they had been sleeping for quite a while.

My mate frowned and seemed to have caught the look on their faces. "Are you two ok?" she asked and placed the back of her hand on one twin's head before she did it to the other, checking their temperature. "You two still seem very tired."

Benjamin bit back a small groan and waved his sister's hand off of his forehead before he clambered off the bed with his sister following him. "I'm just tired," he said and bit back a small yawn, shaking his head. "I want to go back to sleep." He licked his lips and glanced at his twin sister before he looked at his older sister with wide eyes. "That's it."

Georgie frowned and slowly blinked, and it looked like she didn't believe him for one second.

Dr. Laurene cleared her throat and shifted on her feet, and Georgie instantly looked at her, with her face becoming a mask. She bowed and bit back a small smile before she lifted her head and looked at my mate with calm eyes. "Would you like me to check on both of them, as well?" she asked and cocked her head while she studied her.

My mate hesitated before she looked at me. "When is your father wanting to talk to me?" she asked, and her voice was barely above a whisper. "Is he wanting to talk to me soon, and does he know that I am awake?"

"He knows that you are awake," I said and tucked my head closer to my chest. I pressed my lips into a thin line and offered her a tight smile. "However, I told him that you are going to get checked out by the doctor before he comes here."

My mate hesitated before she slowly nodded. She bit the inside of her lip and looked at Dr. Laurene before she looked at me. "Do you think that Dr. Laurene can check out my brother and sister before she checks on me?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "Would that be fine?"

"Yes," I said and nodded in confirmation before I looked at Dr. Laurene. "Would that work for you?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question while I studied her. "Can you check on Benjamin and Bethany before you look after my mate?"

"Yes, Young Alpha," Dr. Laurene said and nodded in confirmation. She cleared her throat and shifted on her feet, and a look of hesitance and worry flashed through her eyes. "What about the Alpha?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question. "How long is he going to wait until he comes over without you calling for him? I don't want to be in the middle of looking after her if he comes sooner than we hope."

"Check on Gingie first before you do us, then," Benjamin said and shook his head. His eyes were filled with fear and nervousness, and I knew that he was scared that she would get in trouble with the Alpha. "We can get checked out later so that the Alpha doesn't hurt her."

I bit back a small growl and shook my head. "He is never going to lay a hand on her," I said and bared my teeth and bit back another growl while a wave of protectiveness washed over my body. "If he does, then he will have to deal with me, and you can damn well bet that I will protect her against him no matter what."

Benjamin and Bethany looked at each other, hesitating without saying a word. They seemed to talk to each other in a way that I didn't quite understand, but it looked like my mate knew exactly what each twin was thinking or saying.

She didn't say a word and studied them, pressing her lips into a thin line. Her whole body was tense, and she didn't know if she liked what she was listening to or not, but she made no move to ask them what it was that they were talking about.

I didn't say a word and placed my arms behind my back with my hands clasped together. I looked between the three of them before I looked at Dr. Laurene to see that she was watching them with wide eyes and lips pressed into a thin line.

Finally, both twins seemed to sigh in unison and slowly nodded before they looked at my mate, but they didn't say a word and stared at her with wide eyes.

"Well?" my mate asked and raised an eyebrow in question. Amusement filled her eyes while she studied them before she cocked her head to the side. "Do you two have an agreement with each other?"

They looked at each other before they looked at her. "Yes," they said in unison and nodded in confirmation before they looked at Dr. Laurene with wide eyes filled with nervousness and fear. "We will go ahead and get checked out by you before you check out our sister," they said. "Thank you, Dr. Laurene."

Dr. Laurene bit back a small smile and slowly nodded. "Of course," she said and with that she started to check on both kids while I made it to my mate's side without another word, praying that everything the twins would get a clean bill of health.
