Sun's Old Friends

The sun rose up and says hello
to it's old friends,
Both literally and metaphorically,
My grandparents.

As the sun erases every trace of night
Their day starts with a newspaper and a cup of chai.

I wonder that even a rooster would feel ashamed
On how they wake up early every single day.

After having breakfast, as their daily routine,
They seem like kids,
full of energy .

Their laughter full of joy,
Their face showing a youthful glow.
Only their white hair serves as a reminder
That times flows.

I wonder, How many people have fallen for their beauty ?
How attractive they would have been?

As the sun goes up and settles higher in the sky,
It comes their afternoon nap time.

As they try to get up to go to bed,
Their knees hurt
So they ask for a little help.

I wonder,
When did those strong legs that could run a marathon,
Became so weak that they need support?

As the sun starts to set
And give a warm glow,
Their face becomes clearer
As the light dims more.

Their wrinkled face
Reminds about their long lost youth
But their eyes
Still challenges this truth.

I wonder about their days,
Each wrinkle is a souvenir
Of their adventurer days.

They say they couldn't do much in their life
But, their endless stories are evidences of this lie.

As they close their door
And goes away from our eyes,
They lay down to sleep
Saying goodbye to the night.

Before going to dreamland
I hope,
That along with the sun
I will say them hello.
