After training in Alibaug, a seaside resort close to Mumbai, for almost a week, Virat Kohli left for Delhi to join the Delhi Ranji Trophy team. At a Reliance cricket facility in Alibaug, the star batsman diligently practiced his batting style under the guidance of former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar. Recently, Kohli inaugurated a 10,000-square-foot vacation house in this charming seaside town, which is located in Maharashtra's Raigad region.

After going viral, a video of Kohli working with Bangar—who had previously worked with the batter at the Indian team and Royal Challengers Bangalore—sparked rumors that the session was held at a nets facility in Mumbai. It has recently come to light that the two were employed at an Alibaug farm.

Given that some of Kohli's best performances occurred while Bangar was India's batting coach, it is not entirely surprising that Kohli is looking to Bangar to review his hitting approach. When Bangar was the batting coach for the Indian squad from 2014 to 2019, Kohli amassed 11767 runs and 41 hundred in all formats. At the time, he was considered the best batter in the world.

Due to his declining batting performance, Kohli's batting has come under a lot of criticism lately. He amassed just 190 runs in five BGT Test matches in Australia, despite scoring a century, which led to calls for his dismissal. There have been requests for the selectors to remove the two veteran hitters from the national squad since captain Rohit Sharma is in even worse form.

However, since India will be participating inthe Champions Trophy, Kohli's spot in the national team, like Rohit's, issecure for the time being. On outside the off stump, however, Kohli's similarand frequent method of dismissal has revealed shortcomings in his style. Beforedeparting for Delhi, where he will represent his home state, Kohli practicedwith Bangar for about a week prior to the Ranji match. On January 30, Delhiwill play Railways in an Elite Group D match at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Since his final domestic first-class encounter against Uttar Pradesh inNovember 2012, Kohli has not participated in a Ranji match in more than 13years. He is now required to play in the domestic match, though, as a result ofan order from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which severalinternational players have recently cooperated with. The match is important forRailways, who are now ranked fourth and still in the competition for a knockoutslot, while Delhi, who are currently sixth on the points table, are out of therunning. Regardless of the stakes, Kohli's batting performance will undoubtedlybe the focus of attention.
