Here's a slice of life episode for ya!

Melissa noticed both Penny and Maltida walking by her office. Their clothes. Not proper dress code. Proper dress code needs to be enforced. She gulped down the rest of her coffee and went after the two troublemakers.

When she caught up to them, she coughed. They turned and looked at her. "Yeah?" Melissa looked at their clothes. "Mind telling me why this is what you wear?"

Maltida looked at her clothes. "What is wrong with it?" Melissa poked her stomach. "Here at the Miami 49 precinct we wear proper clothing for professional etiquette." Maltida chuckled. "Let me guess, you got a problem with both me and Penny's clothes?" Melissa gritted her teeth. "Yes." "Change your clothes now." Penny frowned. "And if we don't?" Melissa spoke one word. "Probation. And I tell your father."

Maltida practically squirmed looking for a way out of this one. "O-kay.." Her and Penny clicked their tongues and walked away.

David soon appeared. "Where are they going?" Melissa still stern spoke "Home to change. You got our next case?" David waved his hand behind his back with the case files attached, presenting it to her as if she was his royal majesty. "Right here my lady." Melissa decided to play along. "Thank you nobleman. You are dismissed." He walked away, turning around and blowing her a kiss. "See you tonight for dinner." Melissa cracked a small smile. She questioned if separation was still right for a man that could make her laugh.

During that day, the entire precinct was briefed  on the rise of a current gang in Miami. Melissa made it clear that everyone should prepare to search and arrest gang members. "These gangs can get hostile. So we will make sure everyone can defend themselves. Everyone except our newbies are dismissed." Maltida and Penny came in. Maltida was wearing a white blouse and black leather pants. Penny was wearing their jeans and a semi causal t-shirt of some band likely that has not played in some time. "You're late."

Melissa then took her detectives in training to what their next training would be. "Here is the gun room. Everyone has shown me that they can use good judgment when deciding when to engage with hostile civilians." She pulled out a gun. "Each of you will get a gun today and you will not be able to go home with it until you have completed gun training." Ferdinand beamed. "Oh boy I've always wanted to shoot someone with a gun!" Melissa paused. "I would watch yourself Ferdinand." Ferdinand stopped smiling, realizing how serious this was. Melissa walked over to Lily. Melissa handed her the L-shaped weapon. "Is this a real gun or a prop gun?" Melissa placed a hand on her shoulder. "It's about as real as the gangs and crime that require the use of it, so yes it is real." She then spoke, meeting eyes with everyone. "Does anyone else have anymore stupid questions?" Lily stammered for a second. All voices were quiet. "Alright then."

That night, a few of the objects gathered in one of the bedrooms. "Guys do you really think we should have guns?" "Well of course not, but I do not want mine taken away at the end of gun training so I might as well just do it." Everyone nodded in agreement. Lily thought about what happened today too. Was this it? Did they really dig their way through to become detectives without their identities being compromised? Ferdinand noticed Lily looking at the carpet. "Hey, whatcha thinking about Leafster?" Leafy blushed at the return of her nickname from her best friend, it has not been used in so long. "Why haven't we got caught? Do you think they are on to us Firey?" Firey blew air through his humanoid mouth. "Probably not." "As long as we keep acting natural, no one will suspect anything and it'll be like we were never here." Leafy didn't feel comforted by that.

She could imagine a conversation now. Melissa would say, "You would never lie to me, would you Lily?" Lily would be too stunned to speak, but would speak "no." Her insides would then tear her apart. Guilt would consume her. She didn't want to betray her old friends and she didn't want to betray a seemingly nice woman and her family, but this was hard. Lying was hard. And it hurt. She remembers Firey lying to her about Four's diary. But she forgave him, and something inside her told her that Melissa might do the same. Maltida soon flicked off the lights. "Like Goodnight everyone!" Objects went to their respective bedrooms.

But she had to. There was no reason to blow our cover if Melissa wasn't close to uncovering them. But what if she did? Would four kill her? Would they have to leave behind David and Morgan? It was just starting to feel like everyone was getting used to their new lives for now. Firey was tolerating Morgan more and Four seemed to be forming a friendship, (possibly parasocial) bond with Melissa. This possibly couldn't end badly could it? We can trust her and she can trust us right?

Stop. Don't think about it anymore. You're overthinking Leafy. She will not find out when she is giving you guns and federal technology. All of which Four could use to his advantage but hasn't. You just gotta keep playing cool and do not screw up. If you screw up, then you'll most likely will have to repeat all the training and you won't get to see what Two is up to around here. Worst of all, Firey may not trust you again.

Alright time to go to sleep. When I sleep, I'll think about gun training and hopefully passing whatever test Melissa has planned. Then, according to Melissa and her discussion, I'll be an official detective! I'll be able to be solving crime with Melissa and handling whatever comes our way!
