During the morning classes, Jimin focused on taking notes and listening to the lectures, but his mind occasionally drifted back to the mansion. Everything still felt surreal-getting a job, staying in such a grand place, and the warmth of the family.
By the time lunch break arrived, he stepped into the cafeteria and immediately spotted Taehyung waving at him from a table near the window. Jimin walked over, setting his tray down as he took a seat.
"Finally!" Taehyung sighed dramatically. "I thought you'd disappear today too!"
Jimin chuckled. "Why would I?"
"Well, yesterday you ran off after class, and I had no idea where you went." Taehyung pouted. "I was worried, you know."
Jimin softened at his friend's concern. "Sorry, I was just settling into my new place."
At that, Taehyung's eyes lit up. "Oh, right! Your new job! How is it? Is the place nice?"
Jimin nodded. "Yeah, it's really nice. The house is huge, but more importantly, the people are kind. Grandma-uh, the old lady I'm taking care of-she's really sweet."
Taehyung exhaled in relief. "That's good. I was scared you might end up with some rude folks who treat people badly."
Jimin shook his head. "No, they've been really welcoming. It actually feels... comfortable."
Taehyung grinned. "That's a relief. I was ready to fight someone if they treated you badly."
Jimin laughed. "Ohh Tae, you don't need to fight with anyone because you'll end up being beaten, look at you skinny boy, 'And they are very nice people."
Taehyung gasped. "That has nothing to do with my fighting skills!"
Jimin chuckled, shaking his head. "Anyway, don't worry about me. I think this will work out just fine."
Taehyung nodded, satisfied. "Good. But if anything happens, you tell me, okay?"
Jimin smiled. "Of course."
As they continued eating, the conversation shifted to random topics, and Jimin felt lighter. No matter what happened, at least he had Taehyung's support.
Taehyung took a bite of his food before glancing at Jimin. "By the way, did you tell your mom about all this?"
Jimin nodded. "Yeah, I told her last night."
Taehyung smiled. "Good. She must be relieved knowing you're staying with safe people."
Jimin hummed in agreement, his mind drifting back to his conversation with his mother last night.
Flashback - Last Night
After having dinner with Grandma, Jimin returned to his small cottage, feeling full and warm. It had been a long day, but everything still felt unreal. He settled onto his bed, pulling out his phone and dialing his mother's number.
