~Snow White~

¤ One thousand, seven hundred and eighty-five years ago ¤

I ran frantically through the thick, black forest with one of my hands reached out in front of me to feel my surroundings, while the other held the bunch-up skirts of my dress. The thick branches of trees spared me not one small speck of moonlight. With eyes unadjusted to the pitch black forest, I stumbled upon a tree root sticking out from the ground.

I fell forward, my eyes shut closed as tightly as it could while I expected my body to slam on the rough, hard ground with an impact that could knock the wind out of me, which will let my pursuer catch up. But before I collided with the earth, a hard pull tugged me on the collar of my dress, saving me two inches from eating the ground.

"Thank you," I said, turning around to face the person that saved me when I was upright. I couldn't contain my surprise as I saw the face of my savior. The person who just saved me is the same person who is trying to capture me, his beautiful young face luminescent even in pure darkness, and his golden hair brightly shimmering despite the lack of sunlight.

"You are welcome, Your Majesty," he said, looking me straight at my frightened eyes. My bottom lip quivered as a small whimper escape my throat against my will. He took a step towards me, and at the same time I took a step back. My heart pounded louder in my ears than it ever did before.

"Please, Princess. I do not intend to carry out the Queen's orders," he said, taking another step towards me, all the same as I took another step back. If I run now, I may make it to safety from this unimaginable creature of evil. Although his eyes portrayed honesty and guilt from his previous actions, his movements towards me declared the exact opposite. His hands were twitching with anticipation while his foot tapped quickly on the dry leaves, looking forward on fulfilling the Queen's, my stepmother's, orders.

Before he could take another step forward, I turned around, gathered my dress's skirts in my arms and made sure to leap over another root that was poking out of the ground so that I would not trip again and be caught once more.

As I ran, I hear him swear in a very uncivil way, giving me a burst of energy from his frustration. Deeper and deeper I ran through the woods, my eyes now adjusting to the darkness that enveloped me in it's cold embrace. Although the forest is cold, my hair stuck to my face due to sweat and beads of it traveled down my eyes, blinding me a bit.

After a minute or so of running, I felt a cold wind blow my jet-black hair forward and I saw a flash of movement heading straight to the direction I'm going to. Before I could stop and turn around, he was right in front of me, waiting with a wide smile that showed off his large canines, glistening from saliva. A loud scream was stuck on my throat, the desire to escape and the desperation for it made my eyes swell with tears, filling them up until all that I could see was a dark blur.

"Please, Hunter, let me escape," I begged him as a tear slid down my aching cheeks that I never took notice before until now.

"Oh, Princess Snow, why would I do such a thing? You are a very enjoyable human toy. I can only imagine what you can achieve if you had the same ability as I do," Hunter said, his eyes glinting amusement, "As a matter of fact, why should I not do such thing?"

The thought of being an undead monster who feeds on human blood scares me far worse than death itself. To walk the earth as a non-emotional thing, built only to feed, is a curse that I am unwilling to choose over eternal death itself. I held my tears in check, willing for my control over them, and with my head held high. I looked straight in his eyes, never unwavering.
