"So basically you're best friends with Alfie Deyes, and you didn't tell me?!" My best friend Beth spoke at me in outrage. I had no idea that she was a fan of Alfie's until I had told her about my plans to go out with him and a couple of his friends for dinner tonight. The conversation basically consisted of me telling her that I was meeting my friend Alfie who was probably going to put me in his vlog again, and it all went down hill from there. If I would've known that she was such a huge fan I probably could've asked if she could tag along, but I was leaving in just a few minutes.
"Sorry! I had no idea! After we had lunch on Wednesday I came back and watched a whole bunch of videos, and that's when I found out he was actually a big deal. If I knew..." Beth passed me a shiny diamond tennis bracelet and I slid it onto my wrist. She had helped me pick out my outfit for tonight, and I was very thankful for that. I wasn't too sure of who i was going to meet, but like any single girl I needed to dress to impress.
"Ughh... You are so bloody lucky." Beth patted the top of her blond bun lightly. Unlike myself, Beth was ready for a comfy night in the dorms. With sweats on and no make up I knew that she'd probably spend all night in her room on her laptop. Now I finally knew what she was always doing on it at least.
"Well do I look okay?" I stood in front of my full length mirror steadily. I had settled on a simple baby blue dress with a pearl covered collar. The October night was probably warm enough for the outfit, but I would bring a jacket for safe measures.
"I think you should wear those heels instead of your Mary Jane's." Beth suggested while laying back on my bed. I glanced down at my simple white Mary Jane shoes and shook my head.
"If I were a little thing like you, maybe I would. Unfortunately I look like a giant in high heels." Unlike Beth who was a petite 5"3, I was just about 5"9 and with heels that was just a little bit too tall for me. In a perfect world I would be able to wear heels on a night out.
"Fine, then just unbraid your hair." Beth groaned. Quickly I undid the tight French braid I had made in my light brown hair. It fell down my shoulders as if I were in a shampoo commercial.
"I'm going to bask in my sorrow alone. Tell me how it goes." Beth pouted while lifting herself up from my bed and leaving before I could say a proper good bye. I wasn't too worried about her sadness because she would meet Alfie sooner or later. I would probably have to make her agree not to fan girl ahead of time though.
After taking a final look in the mirror I grabbed my clutch and headed for the door. Leaving my room a complete mess wasn't ideal, but I was running late and that was a perk of not having a roommate. The first couple years of uni with a roommate didn't really work out too well, and I was now happy to be on my own.
The tube ride over to the Nandos that Alfie wanted to have dinner at was reasonably short. London was always alive, and night was no exception. The sky was pitch black, but the thousands of city lights seemed to make the square I waited at bright. Many tourists rushed around taking pictures while I stood awkwardly outside of the restaurant waiting for the boys. It was almost five minutes before i got a text from Alfie telling me that he was almost there.
"Evie!" I heard the enthusiastic holler of Alfie from behind me. Swiftly I turned around and was met by his big embrace. Two guys around our age followed him giving me friendly nods.
"Alfie!" I tried to match his peppiness, but that was nearly impossible. As a long, moist breeze hit I spent a small second thanking god that I had worn a jacket.
"This is Caspar, and Marcus." Alfie introduced while taking a step back.
I first looked at Caspar, who was a tall attractive guy with messy blond hair, bright blue eyes, and a sweet smile. He almost looked bashful. From his form fitted jumper and khaki shorts the first thing that popped into my mind was lazy surfer guy, but that was probably because of his blond hair.
