"Someone seems to be in a bad mood," Seokjin said, leaning casually against the doorframe as Taehyung entered the room. His eyes glinted with curiosity, knowing full well something had unsettled the emperor.

"Not now, hyung," Taehyung muttered, his usual composed demeanor faltering for a moment as he stepped inside, the weight of the conversation still heavy on his mind.

Seokjin raised an eyebrow, noting the stormy expression that seemed to cloud Taehyung's features. "A little birdie tells me you had a romantic rendezvous with Jungkook in the gardens," he teased, a sly grin tugging at the corners of his mouth.

Taehyung's face immediately shifted, his jaw tightening. "He asked to annul the engagement," he said quietly, the words coming out almost too easily, like they'd been waiting to be spoken.

"What?!" Seokjin exclaimed, his voice too loud for the quiet room. He straightened up in surprise. "He what? That's-" He stumbled over his words, clearly shocked. "Are you serious? He asked for that?"

"Yeah, I couldn't believe it either," Taehyung muttered, running a hand through his hair in frustration. He walked further into the room, his mind still racing as he recalled the conversation with Jungkook. The entire thing felt surreal, like it couldn't possibly be true. "I thought he was so... obsessed with me."

Seokjin, ever the perceptive one, cocked his head to the side. "I owe Namjoon fifty golden coins. Shit. I lost," he said, half-joking, half-shaking his head in disbelief.

Taehyung glanced at him, his brow furrowing. "What? You bet on it?" His voice was flat, though the irritation in his tone was unmistakable.

Seokjin waved it off. "Not important right now," he said, his eyes glinting with amusement despite the tension. "How did this happen? You and Jungkook were-well, let's say, you were practically his world. He would've followed you to the ends of the earth."

Taehyung crossed his arms, eyes staring out the window as he recalled the conversation with Jungkook. "I don't know, hyung," he said quietly, his voice almost too soft. "He said... that someone like him doesn't deserve to be by my side. That he's not good enough for me." His eyes narrowed, confusion passing through them. "I didn't understand. I still don't."
