Chapter 3: The Close Encounter

Neon activated her rocket shoes and skated at high speed. "They wanted to turn me into a MAVERICK!" she thought, her adreneline pumping.

Zero spotted Neon running away. "Uh oh, this isn't good." Following her were vicious looking Mavericks. Now, Zero started to pursuit them.

Neon was completely terrified when she turned around to see Mavericks chasing her. "Ahhhhhhhhh!" she screamed. "Get away from me!" Suddenly, she reached a dead end. "No,no,no,no,no,no,no,no! This can't be happening!"

The Mavericks started cornering her. All she could do was cover her eyes and wait for the worst. Then, she heard slash, slash, slash, slash! Everything went silent. She slowly uncovered her eyes.

All she could see was a bright green light coming from the shadows. Then, a figure stepped forward. Her heart nearly stopped when she saw who it was. It was the one and only, Zero.

"Am I seeing things?" She whispered. "Nope." he answered. She slowly walked towards him. "Y-y-you're-you're-Z-zz-Zero!" She stammered. For a moment she couldn't see straight and thought she was going to pass out. "Yes, I'm Zero. It seems you know me quite well." he said, calmly.

She took a deep breath and relaxed. "Yeah, heh, heh. I know a lot of great things about you." she smiled, sheepishly. "Oh! Uh, thanks for rescuing me." "Oh, it was nothing, really." Zero replied. "Oh, you're probably wondering why I coincidentally showed up out of nowhere. Well, we Maverick Hunters have been suspicious about Alpha Corporation ever since they started. We just happened to know about you presence here at Alpha Corporation, and they wanted me to check out what's going on."

Neon couldn't beleve what she was hearing. They knew she was here! "Wow." she said, amazed. Soon, both of them realized they should get out of here. "Uh, we should probably get out of here before any other Mavericks come." Zero said. "Yeah." Neon agreed. The two of them left Alpha Corporation and headed for the Maverick Hunter HQ. "Wow! I can't believe I got rescued by Zero! Wait til' Violet and Tilla hear about this." she thought.
