My only chance of escape involved a small, dark tunnel guarded by 'Etherious'. One of the strongest protection spells this world has to offer. In order to get out of the facility I would have to take out the generators that are pumping out the spell, stopping the Caesion waves from outputting the spell. What makes the task at hand so hard though is the fact that this is an unusual spell.
When scientists discovered that some people had unusual electrical currents that could be transferred through a modem and then outputted in physical a format, they were shocked as expected, this was called 'Magik' and those who can use it are held in high regard, however, these modems aren't being powered by a 'Mage', their supply comes from extracted energy in the earth, 'Mineraru', meaning minerals. This means that the generators are unstable and if taken out incorrectly, i'll initiate either a self destruct sequence spell or sound the alarm.
After wasting time thinking of how to achieve my goal I decided to cast a 10 minute block spell. This would allow me to get through the tunnel without leaving a trace of evidence that I was there, as opposed to the risky, 'destroying them option'. The main task was to get these documents back and exploited. "The SLVER Corp. would pay for lying to the world. Our Mage's are going to die if they keep using magik." I whispered.
I held out my arms in a cross over and pressed a few buttons to create the spell, I said its name and cast it, "Lahar!". Then I began to run. I decided to cast the light spell, Louen, so I could see where I was running. If my plan worked then this is the last job I will ever use magic with. Then I can live my life without wondering when it will end. Where the scientific and magical worlds collide, you get SLVER's, and the results are dangerous.
I was almost home free. I pulled out my ' Glass' from my pocket to check the time. "11:43pm and on schedule" I said. Almost at the exit I could hear the ocean, I prepared to jump back onto my boat. I turned off my Louen spell, so that my only source of light would be the moon above me. "Time to go." I mumbled, my black hair hanging in my face.
"Not so fast, anomaly." A voice came from behind.
"Siegerd, I don't have time for this, can I pound your face into the ground later?" my voice was low and furious.
"Hilarious,"he pulled out his gun SLVER, " But you can't leave just yet. We need to have a chat on manners. You see it's polite to knock before barging in and most people use the front door."
"What can I say, I never really was good with that sort of thing."I started to sound even more angry.
"Well then young man, allow me to correct you!"he said as he shot a spell my way.
I crossed my arms again and materialized a shield just in time. Then I started the motor on the boat and headed for the shore, meanwhile he continued to fire attack spells to penetrate my shield. I began to close in on the shoreline when he broke through, just scraping my shoulder.
"Crap!"
I jumped from the boat and ran up the grass to the stone pavilion in their gardens. Siegerd closely followed.
"Your hardly old enough to refer to me as 'young man'. your only 2 years older than me." I shouted as I materialized the best Katana I could.
"Your going to fight a gun with a sword? How foolish are you?"
"All I have to do is be faster than you, and even as a kid that was always easy!"
We began to fight. Our Magik use was making us tired faster though and soon the battle would draw to a close. He had managed to shoot a fire spell and burn me as I got a few slices in on him.
"Come on Maze, you're an anomaly, one that we know of, join us to help this world march forward into a new age!" he shouted at me.
"No." I moved in and slashed him and he fell on the ground with crimson fluid oozing out of him.
"You're doing this so that the anomaly's can use magik while the rest of the world stumbles in the dark." he coughed
"We both know that's not true."
"Oh yeah, then why are you about to Surge again?"
I hadn't noticed until he said those words, that I was bleeding too and on the verge of obliterating everything around me, again. Soon after thinking those thoughts, it all went dark. It was too late.
