"Do guys have girlfriends?" I suddenly asked Luke and Jace while we were at the library at school and we're eating lunch while avoiding the scrutinizing eyes of the librarian. Both their eyes landed on mine and they stopped chewing their food and stared at me.
"Do you want an application form? But you need to wait in line girl, because I have a lot of damsels in distress to entertain before you." Jace answered with a cocky tone of his voice which made me scowl at him and threw him my pencil. He chuckled after the pencil missed him. Jackass. My eyes travelled to Luke and he looked serious.
"I have someone." His answer shocked Jace and me. What? So that's why he doesn't flirt with Stacey back then. That makes sense. But who is the unlucky girl?
"You never mentioned someone to me, dude. You're kidding right?" Jace sounded suspicious but Luke seems to be telling the truth, considering that his eyes just softened when he said that he has someone. Well, I can't imagine him with a girl because of his look. He is handsome as hell but I just can't see a girl liking him back. Because he's rude and very annoying.
"You never asked." Luke's answers are clipped and I can't help but wonder if something's wrong with him again. These days he looked off and his mind is flying somewhere every time we're together and he's always silent.
Speaking of looking off, I still couldn't shake off the image of Christian Larsen at the diner last night. He didn't see us come in and eat because his head was down the whole time we were there but the bruises were so visible that anyone can stare and wonder what happened as well. Would he be at the diner later again tonight?
I am currently peeing in the comfort room and I heard a click and clack of heels on the floor and I am damn right sure that it's Minnie Andrews and her hell hounds following behind her. Wow. Great timing. I can't get the hell out of this cubicle because I'll be locked in here again if I show myself.
"Minnie, did you notice that Christian isn't around since Monday? Rumors have been going around that he's sick or something." Gwen's voice echoed inside the comfort room and I listened in. He's not sick.
Minnie scoffed and I'm picturing her applying lipstick in front of the mirror right now. "We're through and I couldn't care less." She snapped. Yep, I witnessed her storming off at Larsen's party the other night.
"Yeah, the whole school knows you both are over and apparently they're saying that the girl he replaced you is gorgeous and has the looks of a model, long legs and all that." Gwen blabbered and my jaw dropped. Looks of a model? Well that's not me. Maybe Larsen has found another girl toy after I got drunk and partied my ass off with strangers.
"Oh please. That girl looks like a skank to me." Minnie argued. You're the skank. "Even if she got Christian's attention she'll be dumped eventually because I'm the only one who can give Chris the pleasure he needs, I know because he told me. He'll realize that sooner rather than later." After saying that, all of them marched out the comfort room and I breathed with relief. Well, it's good that I won't be getting any of Christian and Minnie's attention at the moment because of this conflict.
It was too late when I realized that I was walking to the diner because I was thinking about Larsen the whole time on the way back home. Luke and Jace wasn't with me because they said they had something to do. Finally I'm free of babysitting the two of them. I'm standing in front the diner with the hope of finding Christian Larsen once again sitting alone at a booth and looking beaten up. I was about to walk back home when I asked myself what if he's not there? So I entered.
