Ginette Kennedy
I stand on stage and Lycus congratulates me and Marcus and then asks us to shake hands. I hold out my hand and Marcus shakes it, loosely. I feel my eyes get wet as I look over everyone in my district. A group of peacekeepers separate me and Marcus and escort us into different rooms in the Justice Building.
Sitting alone in the plush, velvet room with its locked door gives me time to break down.
I scream, I kick, I shred a feather filled pillow, I overturn a table with a fragile vase on it, and at the end of my rampage Veve toddles in, followed by my parents. I run to the door and hug Veve, wiping a tear from her face, despite the streaks on mine. "Ve. Ve I love you ok? I'm going to win this for you I promise." I hug her. She hugged me back and whispered: "I trust you Gin." I nodded and kissed her on the cheek.
I turn to my parents and they hug me. "You are so strong Gin." My father grabs my shoulder and my mother breaks into tears. The peacekeeper opens the door. "Time's up." Veve starts screaming and grabs onto me. He walks over and pries the screaming and crying girl off of me. "I love you Veve!" I shout at her running towards the door and pounding it with my fists when it slams in my face. I slide down the door, crying. No one else comes to visit me as I lay on the floor in a crumpled mess, sobbing.
