I have always been a huge fan of super smash brothers. It has always been my favorite video hame franchise. It was even the first game thag I ever played. Right now I am 15. I first played smash bros when I was 2 years old. My sister introduced me to video games by introducing me to smash bros. I started off with the n64 version so i started with the original game. I got a gamecube and smash bros melee when i was around 3 or 4, ever since then i still use the same gamecube controller to play smash. As much as i always though smash as fun i never took it competitively untilmi was about 12. I got W0LMAST3R into smash bros around the time i got melee, he was always my opponent because i never had many friends. I always won, he had a few victories here and there but i won most of the time. I think he has potential in smash if he wants to take it more seriously but thats up to him.
In 2008 a new smash bros game came out for the wii, it was called super smash bros brawl.
I gotnit soon after it came out, even though competitively it wasnt that great of a game it was still really good and i made it my new favorite game.the years went by the same, out of all my cousins i was always the best at smash, i was always looking for people to play against but i didnt meet new people very often. Then at a christmas party at my house in 2012, one of my cousins boyfriend came to the party and he played smash, he didnt tell us though.
He went upstairs to where everyone was playing brawl, he stood there and watched us, we had no idea how low in the food chain we were when it came to smash. I remember we asked him to play and asked if he played smash. The first words that he said were (sometimes) and obviously he played a lot more than sometimes but we didnt know. We all challanged him to go against my older cousin Richie, because eferyone assumed he was the best because he was the oldest but really he was second because i could beat him. He completely destroyed Richie. For some reason we liked playing 10 stock then (that takes a long time in case you didnt know) but he made it feel as fast as a 3 stock match, and he was just messing around with him the whole time.
I went against him later on, at the time i mained lucas. He destroyed me too, using his main jighlypuff.
Because that was the first time i was beaten so badly it gave me a drive to become better at smash and to become better than ever. 2 months later it was my birthday, he came to the house again and i had my rematch in brawl, at the time i lowered it to 5 stocks. As before he beat me but he was suprised by the fact that i had improvednin those two months. Then he started to work at the same swap meet that my family works at during the weekend.
So he became kind of like a mentor. He knew a lot more about the competitive world of smash that i never knew existed and he tought me all of it.
He tought me the competitive turms like nairs,dairs,up airs, fairs, spikes,and stiff like that. He also tought me the competitive rules for all ghe games, i never played with items on anyways so i was cool with that, and the other rules just made sence to me. I learned about how competitive tournaments work and about the professionals, like m2k, ken, leffen, koreandj, mango, azen, and all the greats. Then sm4sh came out.
I took sm4sh more competitively than i have anything before. I preordered the game for 3ds and got the wii u version the day after it came out. I tested out every character and mained a lot of them before i got my real main. Who is captain falcon btw. Ever since chris beat me the first time we would rematch every few months. About two weeks ago i went to my first smash brothers tournament. Me and W0LMAST3R recorded it and posted it on youtube if you want to check it out, i made it to my 3rd set before being eliminated, but i still had a lot of fun and learned a lot. I also finally beat chris. I dont know when the next time we have a rematch will be but il probably win again. I went to the tourney last monday but couldnt record it. I plan on going again this next monday and il probably record it with W0LMAST3R.
At the moment i would consider myself like a 5/10 or 6/10 on how good i am at smash.
