Chapter One - Carly

I woke up screaming, again. I did every night. I've gotten used to it, and so has my roommate-and best friend- Caroline. She doesn't come rushing in anymore, worried. She knows it's just my life flashing before my very eyes.

I sighed, running my hands over my face and trying to calm myself. I unwrapped the duvet from around myself and set my feet on the floor. I slowly pulled my aching body off the bed and made my way to the kitchen where Caroline most likely was. And I was right, for there she was, sitting on a stool eating god knows what. She heard my small feet padding into the kitchen and looked over, smiling at me.

"Good morning, sleepy head." She commented, waving at me and patting the stool next to her. I groaned and padded over to the stool, plopping my tired body down, making her laugh.

"G'morning, Care." I grumbled, putting my head down on my arms that were on the counter. She laughed, patting my back. She kept laughing, and it's that cute little laugh that makes you want to laugh too, so soon enough I laughed along with her for no apparent reason.

"So," I said, dragging out the vowel." What's the plan for today?" I picked up an apple from the basket on the counter and bit into it, looking over at her. She smiled, pulling out her phone. That girl had everything organized. I swear, she even planned the day she was born. That's how organized she is.

"Let's see. First, I'm gonna go buy groceries then come back here to unload them. Second, Colleen wants to meet me at the café at half twelve to talk about our literature project. So, you're on you're own for that portion of the day. I'll be back around 14:00 or so." She smiled at me, finishing her scheduling. I sighed and bit my apple again. What was I going to do for hours alone?

"Go hang out at the music store if you want. Play some music. They like when you do that, don't they?" She smiled again. I had said that out loud? I needed to learn to keep my thoughts to myself.

Climbing off the stool, I took my apple and my sleepy body back down the corridor to change. I turned the corner and walked into my room. I shut my door and walked over to my closet. I pulled out a black Ramones crop top, dark ripped high waist shorts, and a dark red bandeau. I grabbed undergarments and swiftly changed out of my Mtn. Dew boxer shorts and plain tee and into the clothes. I grabbed socks and slipped them on my feet, followed by my black hightop hidden-heel converse. I walked into the bathroom and ran a brush through my knotted hair, making the snarls come out and soon my hair was silky and smooth. I had taken a shower last night, so I didn't need to this morning. I brushed my teeth and took my pills.

Yes, I needed pills. I had to take them to control my anxiety. I could break down if I didn't. There were some things that you can never forget, that will haunt you forever.

I grabbed my apple and headed back into the kitchen to say bye to Caroline. I grabbed my bag and phone, blew her a kiss, and walked out the door. I walked down the hall to the parking structure and went over to my car. I pulled my keys out of my bag and got into my little Volts wagon buggy. I put the keys in the ignition, hearing the hum of the engine as I started the car. I pulled out of parking structure and onto the street.

Flipping on the radio, I heard my least favorite song, What Makes You Beautiful. I'm surprised they still played it, for the band had a new album and they often played a popular song from there. I switched stations and settled with Rihanna's 'Diamonds'. I sang along quietly, tapping my fingers on the steering wheel at a red light. Soon I pulled up to the music store and parked in the parking lot. I turned off the car and got out, grabbing my things. I walked inside and was greeted by the very nice man who worked there.

"Hello, Carly! Here to play more songs again, I presume?" He smiled that smile old people do and I just melted. I loved how nice old people were. I nodded at him and at that, he went to go grab my favorite acoustic guitar, which I had personally named Darcy.

I thanked him when he brought it to me and then sat on a bench by the window, so all customers would hear when they walked in. He loved that it brought in business, but I did it for joy.

"Any requests?" I asked him, smiling. He told me, and I started to play the song. One of my favorites.

'Check yes Juliet

Are you with me

Rain is falling down on the sidewalk

I won't go until you come outside

Check yes Juliet kill the limbo

I'll keep tossing rocks at your window

There's no turning back for us tonight

[Chorus:]

Lace up your shoes

Here's how we do

Run baby run

Don't ever look back

They'll tear us apart if you give them the chance

Don't sell your heart, don't say we're not meant to be

Run baby run, forever will be

You and me

Check yes Juliet

I'll be waiting

Wishing wanting yours for the taking

Just sneak out and don't tell a soul goodbye

Check yes Juliet

Here's the countdown:

3,2,1 now fall in my arms now

They can change the locks, don't let them change your mind

[Chorus]

We're flying through the night

We're flying through the night

Way up high

The view from here is getting better with you

By my side

Run baby run

Don't ever look back

They'll tear us apart if you give them the chance

Don't sell your heart, don't say we're not meant to be

Run baby run, forever will be

Run baby run, don't ever look back

They'll tear us apart if you give them the chance

Don't sell your heart, don't say we're not meant to be

Run baby run, forever will be

You and me

You and me

You and me

I let my fingers fall one more time over the chords and smiled. Clapping sounded from all around me, and I looked up to see a small group of people had formed. I looked to the back of the group and saw a group of three boys, all with hoods on. One caught my eye, and what really caught it, was his deep green eyes.

He pulled his hood off, earning worried expressions from his mates. I looked away, not wanting to seem creepy, but when I looked back, he stared right at me, his perfect dark brown curls and deep green eyes hard to ignore.

Who was he and why did he make it impossible to look away?

Hey guys! I'll be posting every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. I know it's not very good yet, but just wait! This is the first series I'm committed to writing. I actually gave up my other books because I felt no inspiration for them.

Any-who, follow my twitter for updates! my Tumblr doesn't let me upload, I don't know why. I won't post much on my instagram, as most people I know will make fun of me for writing fan fictions.
