The walk back to the house was silent, with the sound of their footsteps crunching against the earth filling the air. The sun had begun its descent, painting the sky with soft orange and pink hues.
Jimin kept his gaze ahead, the earlier incident still weighing heavily on his mind. His heart was still racing, and he was trying to shake off the strange feeling that had settled inside him after their near-kiss.
Yoongi, on the other hand, was quiet too, though his thoughts were miles away. He kept stealing glances at Jimin, but every time their eyes met, he quickly looked away. He could still feel the electricity from that brief moment when they were so close. His mind was spinning, but he couldn’t bring himself to say anything.
As they reached the house, Jimin quickly opened the door, trying to push the confusion away. His mother had already prepared some tea and snacks, and the warm light from the kitchen filled the room, a stark contrast to the coolness outside.
“Welcome back, boys. How was your day?” his mother asked, smiling at them both.
“It was good,” Jimin answered quickly, offering a small, tight-lipped smile. He went to wash his hands, his mind still not fully in the present.
Yoongi stood by the door for a moment, his thoughts scattered. He looked at Jimin, who seemed so normal on the outside but who had a quiet energy about him now that Yoongi couldn’t quite understand.
“Yoongi, dear?” Jimin’s mother called from the kitchen, pulling him from his thoughts. “You’ve been so kind, staying here and helping Jimin. I really appreciate it.”
Yoongi smiled, though it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “It’s nothing. I’m happy to help.”
But as he said those words, he couldn’t help but wonder if he was helping Jimin—or if he was trying to avoid facing whatever this... connection between them was.
Jimin caught Yoongi’s gaze for a second and quickly turned his head away. He didn’t know what was going on with him, but he had a feeling he was about to find out.
After dinner, the house felt unusually quiet. Jimin's mother had retired to her room to rest, leaving Jimin and Yoongi alone in Jimin’s room. The air was thick with the awkwardness between them, neither of them knowing exactly how to break the silence.
Yoongi sat on the edge of the bed, his gaze wandering, but not quite focusing on anything. Jimin, still feeling the tension from earlier, shifted uncomfortably. The quiet stretched on for a while until Jimin finally spoke, his voice breaking the stillness.
“Hyung” Jimin started, his voice a little shaky, “Come with me. I’ll show you something.”
Yoongi looked up, surprised by the invitation. “Where?” he asked, his voice was soft but curious.
