Tony’s POV
After swimming in the ocean with Audrey, we decided that we were hungry and walked back to where Vic and Dakota were sitting. We didn't realize how far we had drifted down the way while swimming. They were sitting next to each other talking.
“Ah, there they are!” Vic said. “I was just explaining to Dakota about the place we are going for lunch. You two are going to love it.” he said looking at Audrey.
We collected our stuff and walked our bikes back to the path. We rode them all the way to the rental shack and thanked the guy. We then walked back to Vic’s car, all of us hungry and excited. Tacos here we come!
Luckily, the place we were going wasn't very far away. It was this old beat up building near some surf and skateboard shops. Vic parked on the side of the street right in front of the place. I looked up and saw the familiar restaurant sign that read “Baja Cantina.” I smiled to myself; there were so many good memories that tended to take place in this restaurant. The girls hopped out of the car eager to eat. We waited in line and when we got to the front, we were greeted by Yolanda, Vic and I's favorite worker.
“Well, if it isn't my boys!” she basically yelled at the whole restaurant before stepping in front of the counter to give us hugs. “And who are these two ladies? I never knew that you two were able to land such pretty young women! My goodness!” Her accent was heavy, but Vic and I were used to it. I just hoped that the girls couldn't understand her. Judging by the amused looks on their faces though, they understood her perfectly.
Vic jumped in. “Oh, well they aren't our girlfriends, but we had to make sure that they tried your famous tacos!”
“Oh of course!” she said winking. “What would you like, Victor?” We all gave her our orders, getting a massive amount of chips and guacamole to start off with at the table. We chose one in the back corner and all sat down, smelling like the ocean and salt.
Our food came our shortly, and we all got tacos.
I guess Dakota noticed that my tacos looked different than everyone else’s, because she suddenly said, “Hey Tony… what type of meat did you order?”
“Oh man, here it comes.” Vic said. I cleared my throat and turned to Dakota, who was sitting diagonally from me, next to Audrey.
“Actually, it’s a veggie taco, because I'm a vegetarian.” I explained. The girls turned to each other and burst out laughing.
“What’s wrong with being a vegetarian?” I asked defensively. The girls were still laughing and Audrey finally caught her breathe to explain why they thought it was so funny.
“I guess that there isn't anything wrong with being a vegetarian, but where we come from, there aren't any. You eat meat, or you don't eat at all,” she managed to get out in between breathes.
I just rolled my eyes, Vic sitting next to me, enjoying his tacos. He changed the subject and we all happily ate our food. Mine was delicious, even though it was vegetarian. When we finished, we sat around the table and the conversation turned to bike riding.
“Speaking of bikes, does anyone want to go checkout the bike and board store next door?” I asked . I needed new trucks and figured that they would be cheap down here.
“I'll go with you,” Audrey offered, standing up. “Wanna come Kota?”
“No thanks, I think I'm good. I'll chill here with Vic.” She gave us a small smile, and we walked out of the restaurant.
Vic’s POV
Tony and Audrey walked out of the restaurant. Once they left, I switched seats to be next to Dakota.
