"Everyone, get back NOW!" Holly shrieked. Startled by her outburst, everyone froze for a moment before getting behind the hollow. A medium sized badger jumped from the corns, nose in the air. Its beady black eyes eyed the kits and licked its lips. It thought hungrily, Ah, finally! LUNCH!

The badger pounced, claws outstretched.

Toffee screamed a battle cry and pounced forward. He unsheathed his claws and half collided and half slashed at the badger's muzzle. Toffee, who was lying down and dazed by the collision, felt blood dripping from his claws as the badger came to a halt, surprised by the attack. It didn't expect Toffee to do anything. Despite his razor sharp claws, it didn't do any damage but scratch the badger's muzzle and release a tiny trickle of blood. Before the badger came to its senses, Holly dashed forward and slashed the badger's muzzle again. Toffee sensed what she was trying to do so he groggily got up and the siblings slashed repeatedly at the badger in unison until it came to its senses and roughly batted the kits away as if they were just annoying flies with a paw as big as Shadow. Holly and Toffee tumbled onto the hollow and scrambled behind the nest joining the other kits.

"It's too big! What are we going to do?" Toffee whimpered.

"I-I don't know." Holly admitted. "But I do know we should protect the kits even if its the last thing we do."

She bravely slashed at the badger again, toffee matching her moves, even though they knew it was hopeless. The black and white badger finally had enough playing around, unsheathed its unusually long claws and raked them against the kits faces. They flew back against the impact, blood trickling from their muzzles, gradually gushing out. With one last effort they thrust themselves in front of the whimpering kits and closed their eyes, knowing that they would join their mother.

Brace for impact... Holly thought. Anytime now.... Wait, what's going on? She could hear fighting and the slashing of multiple paws. Holly opened one eye and then the next and gasped.

"ARGGH!!! TAKE THIS YOU MANGEPELT!" Nemo yelled as his short yet lethal claws pierced into the badger's back, clinging on and caused a whole lot more damage to the badger than what Holly and Toffee could have done combined. An even more enraged Angel was right next to her littermate, doing even more damage. Motherly instinct...Holly thought that was what was driving her. Angel raked her recently sharpened claws (you could tell) at the badgers side causing it to turn around while Nemo managed to pierce the badger's eye. Seeing it was no match for the cats, not to mention half blind, it gave a final yelp of pain and retreated.

Everyone just stood there panting, taking time for everything to sink in. Finally, Angel broke the silence.

"Thank the heavens! Are you all alright?"

"We're ok!" Cinder piped up. "Did you see Toffee and Holly?! They were like, pow! And slash!" Moving her paws when she said 'pow' and 'slash'.

Holly looked at her brother, covered in blood and limp on the ground. Then she lost consciousness and fell down, the same position as her brother.

Holly opened her eyes and saw a pair of blue eyes staring down at her, scrutinizing her face.
