Chapter 5

Jake's POV

    She was sitting with Luke?! Who did that guy think he was? First he stole April from me and now he thinks he can steal Natalie?! Well... Maybe she's not mine.. but.. still. Lauren climbed onto my lap and wrapped her arms around my neck, flicking her hair back as she laughed at something Dan said. "So are you guys going to Jim's party tomorrow night?" she asked. They guys nodded. She looked at me. "Jake?" she purred huskily. I nodded, "Maybe.." she frowned. Then climbed off my lap angrily. "What wrong with you?" she hissed. "This whole week you've been.. like this! What's wrong?" I shrugged. "I don't know.. I'm just tired." I answered then got up. She put her hands on her hips. "Well call me when you're not tired." she snapped. "I want to go to that Friday night party tomorrow Jake. And I'll go with or without you." Then she spun around and marched toward the cheer table.

      I sighed and sat back down. I placed my head in my hands with a thump. "Dammnnn," said Tony, "You know yo gurrl can look finnne when she's pissed." he said looking over at Lauren agian. I glared at him through a gap in my fingers. He shrugged. "Just sayin.." "Thanks for helping.." I mumbled. He smirked and nodded. "Come on Jake. Is all this about that new chick?" I paused and all the guys moaned.  I looked up. "I know..." I answered.

     April marched over to our table and turned her back at me to talk to Dan, who easily checked her out since she was wearing a purple low-cut tank top today and a pair of short denim shorts. Her blonde hair was straight as usual and her make-up was applied well, as usual. "Dan," she said in a filrty voice. "I was wondering if you wanted to go to the party tomorrow with me?" she said, smiling and running her finger along his shirt collar.

     My jaw clenched. What was she doing?

    Dan smiked. "Sure, how could I say no to a beaut like you?" he said. I rolled my eyes. April giggled. "Great." she said and then turned around and saw me.

   "Oh. Hey Jake." she said in a fake nice voice. But I could tell she was angry at me. I sighed internally. I nodded my head a bit and showed a small smile. I could feel the fire, burning from her eyes.

    Then she turned and walked toward the door. Why was she mad? Why couldn't we have stayed friends? Should I go ask her? I mean, I don't want to have April mad at me. She's normally a nice person. I got up.

"Dude where you going?" Mike called after me. I waved him off and walked through the doors after April.

I turned a corner looking for her. Where was she? The hallway to the corner was empty and if you didn't turn that the only other exit was the doors leading to outside, and I would see her if she had gone that way.

    I decided to turn and head down teh hallway. I walked for a good 5 minutes and decided to stop. Where was she? Then I heard a cold voice call behind me. "Hey Jake." I turned around to find April leaning against a small part of the wall that seemed like it had been cut out. Like a cubbie.

   I ran a hand through my hair. "I thought you might come looking for me." she said smoothly. I looked up at her. She was so beautiful but she could be so cold sometimes. Nat didn't seem like that. "April," I said, "What the hell are you doing?" I asked her. "First you cheat on me with Luke and now you want to hook-up with Dan?" I ask, trying to believe it all. She sighed.

     "Jake," she started. "I tried to explain all of this to you before we broke up. It was neccesarily cheat-" I cut her off. "Making out with him is cheating April!" I said angrily. I looked down. She leant up of the wall and walked toward me slowly. "You didn't have to kick him out of that little group of yours you know just because of that!" she hissed. I lifted my head up and glared at her. "You know Jake," she said, "I gave you another chance to go out with me. But no, you decided to go out with that blonde bimbo Lauren instead!" she said bitterly. I clenched my fist.
