“Are we there yet!?” Reagan whines again. “No, we aren’t any closer since the last time you asked that! Now sit down, shut up, and finish making the room assignments before we get there!” Lanie scolds. She was obviously pissed but after three straight hours of driving in the car with Reagan, I can’t blame her. She can be so childish! “But Shelby I want to stop for smoothies! Lanie I have to pee! Are we there yet? I’m bored! Change the radio station I can’t stand this song! I’m tired of being in the car! Shelby I’m hot! But Shelby, now I’m cold!” It was a never ending cycle with her constantly complaining and god knows what.

I check my watch, only fifteen more minutes to go before we get to the beach house. So many people had heard about us throwing a party in Virginia that we decided if everyone pitched in twenty dollars we could get a decent sized beach house and not have to worry about complaints from the people next door. I was so excited to get to spend some quality time with Charlie. I already knew he wasn’t as arrogant as people had made him out to be but I wanted to know exactly who he really is.

When we got stranded in the tree house I realized something about myself. When I was around him I felt like I didn’t have to be little miss perfect who everyone envies. I could just be Shelby Brooks the seventeen year-old who likes sweatpants and pop-tarts. Who could spend an entire day on the couch watching Netflix or could never sit down once that day. Who has never really lived.

“I still don’t understand why we have to have room assignments?” Reagan mumbles as she starts making a list.

“Because we get to claim the Master and don’t have to fight for it, and also I don’t want complete and utter hell to break loose fighting for rooms. “

“But people will be bitchin’ about the shitty room they get no matter what!”

“Which is also why they can trade rooms; I’m not retarded I know how teenagers think.”

“Takes one to know one!” I shout into her ear.

“Whatever” she says as she rolls her eyes dramatically.

“Looks like the life of the party just arrived” I say unenthusiastically to Reagan as I watch Jason walk through the entrance.

“He’s only going to be here for a few days…You can get through it honey. Plus you have Charlie to take your mind off of things.”

“Speaking of party-goers, how many more people are going to show up?” Lanie says as she walks over to us.

“More importantly, where are all the passed out ones gonna stay? I mean we can’t just leave them all over the floor! We should at least put them in a room” Reagan starts to protest to only be interrupted by Reagan.

“Hey, the bitch has a heart!”

“I have to agree with Lanie though; it’s not very classy to just have bodies all over the place. What if the cops come?” I actually never thought of that though. Should we just drag the bodies into a spare room? What about the mudroom? No, that would just be weird if someone woke up and they were surrounded by a pile of bodies. We can just leave them on the curb, I mean they would be considered trash if they got so drunk as to pass out.

“Guess who?” someone comes up from behind me and covers my eyes. I instinctively aim a punch to their crotch.

“Oh holy shit! What the fuck was that for Shelby!” a male voice says

Quickly trying to cover up for my dick move I struggle to find a smartass response and then it hits me. “I always thought it was you but I didn’t take you to be that cheesy so I had to see if my perpetrators screams were the same as yours. You screamed so much the other night; I don’t think I’ll be able to forget it.”
