【SEASON 6 EPISODE 13: PART ONE】
Julianna sat circled around her television with Eli, her dad, Carmen, Robby, and Miguel. Jules and Eli on the floor and across from them were Carmen, Robby, and Miguel on the couch.
Jules cradled Laura in her arms and every few seconds, Johnny, who was in the recliner to her right, a beer in his hand, would try to reach over and grab Laura. And every time, Jules smacked his hand away and scooted just a little farther from him.
The commercial leading up to the Sekai Taikai had just started playing. Jules, Robby, and Johnny had been interviewed earlier that week, and now, their clips were finally airing.
Jules bounced in place in a mix of excitement and nervousness, her entire body buzzing as she waited for her face to show up on the screen. It wasn't too big of a problem though; Jules bouncing put Laura right to sleep in her arms.
"The most elite karate tournament is almost here. It's the Sekai Taikai! The best under-18 martial artists from across the globe competing for the title of world champion."
Jules stared at the TV, knee bouncing like crazy. She looked away from the TV and to Eli next to her for a moment and feeling eyes on him, Eli looked over and smiled when his eyes met Julianna's. He gently reached out, resting his hand on her thigh and squeezing.
"Julianna Lawrence of Miyagi-Do Karate versus Cobra Kai's Tory Nichols!"
Jules' head whipped back to the screen, her eyes huge. The clip of her fighting Cara on the high platform back in Barcelona played as her introductory clip, and her entire body perked up.
"Oh my God! There's me!" She shrieked, practically buzzing with excitement. Her head around the room, looking around for her phone. "I have to take a video to send to Mom." She muttered more to herself than anyone else.
She looked down and saw her phone by her leg and quickly looked up at Eli. "Can you hold Laura real quick?" She whispered, already moving to hand the baby over because she knew he'd say yes.
"Yeah." Eli whispered as he turned to face Jules, holding his hands out, ready to take the baby. Julianna was just about to place Laura in his arms when—
"Hell no!"
Jules jumped, instinctively pulling Laura back to her chest. She spun around to face her dad, eyebrows furrowing. "What?"
"Johnny!" Carmen scolded, smacking his arm lightly, but Johnny ignored her, glaring at Eli from across the coffee table while he lazily pointed his beer bottle at him. "He's not holding Laura. I hardly know him!"
Eli blinked. "Hardly know me?" He muttered under his breath, because... what?
Jules rolled her eyes, and when she turned to look at Eli, she glanced back at the TV just in time to see her segment end. Her body instantly deflated and she sighed. "It's too late... There goes my face." She muttered glumly.
