Poem - At the Crest

259 11 10

I found myself shattered into pieces,

Each time I open my eyes, the pain just increases

Unable to get myself back as a whole

I was slowly and steadily losing control

Tears start streaming down my face,

Each drop reminding me of the lost race,

There was no point in holding on anymore,

All I wanted, was to get washed off the shore

I knew it was all coming to a rest,

‘Cause that’s how life is at the crest

Now I can’t feel the piercing pain,

As I take a quick walk down memory lane.

Why those plans never worked was a mystery

‘Cause I never really wanted to be a part of history

It felt warm, soothing and thick,

I finally had to succumb to life’s dirty tricks

Part by part, it killed my insides,

And before I knew it, I was a part of beautiful high tides.

I knew it was all coming to a rest,

‘Cause that’s how life is at the crest
