Back on the ice

October 7th

Everything was getting back to normal. It was my first time on the ice since my knee injury and I felt nervous.

"You'll be fine," my best friend Lissa said as we stepped into the rink. We went to the wardrobe and put on our skates.

"Okay, let's go," the teacher shouted and we all stood up and made our way towards the ice. The first three laps I was a bit unstable, but after some time, I was already doing crossovers and harsh stops.

"Oh my god, look at her. Is that Dasha?" Lissa was looking curiously over the rink at the brunette, which was currently covered with frosting.

"Yes it is." Dasha was out mentor's daughter. He was a Sports teacher and volunteered to be our mentor for a mountaineering competition. And because there were two teams, she was on the other one.

Other than that, she was a childish bitch. But we liked her father so because of him, we had to pay attention to her. "And is that David?"

David was a hockey player. He was a year younger than me, and we never talked or did anything together. I lived my own life and didn't care about him.

Lissa and I skated towards the group. They were having fun and were pushing each other around the rink. "Oooh Dasha, so David is the one doing you..?" Lissa teased. Dasha just rolled her eyes and David skated away.

We went on and were just in the middle of a lap when someone suddenly stopped in front of me so I was covered with ice. I was just about to start yelling at whoever did this and then I looked up. The sun was shining through the rink window so there was sunlight piercing on the ice. And what I saw just shocked me. It was David. I just looked at him confused and angry at the same time, but slowly recovered and just skated away with my mouth open.

"What was that?" Lissa asked when we went out for lunch. "I don't know. I was about to ask you that," I replied with a laugh, probably from the shock. We ate our lunch, did a few more laps and then went to the bus and put our skates in the trunk. Soon others came out and did the same.

David was known for not obeying the rules so he just sat in the trunk. Lissa and I just shared confused looks. We were about to go for a walk when a teacher called us. We moved closer and David was about to stand up. "Careful," I said loudly but it was too late. He just bumped his head into the trunk cover.

Lissa just rolled her eyes and we started walking. The air was refreshing and we were chatting lightly.

I was talking to our teacher about ice skating and he told me, that he was once a coach and played in our national team. I was all surprised. I really didn't know that. I was so caught up in my thoughts when I heard him say "David will be good to. He has potential. He's good." "He may be," I said when we walked on.

I was already focused on an English competition I had later that day. But somehow I couldn't forget about David. Maybe it was hockey, or tiredness or my own curiosity but this guy was a mystery to me.

And I never would've thought that he will be the one that will turn my life into chaos.
