As the sun rises, I stir in my bed of gras. I had made a bed of leaves, grass, and my blanket beside a tree, it was the safest place I could think of. Sense I don't have a lot of money, I can't stay in any Inns or pay anyone to sleep in their barn. I figure that I don't look much like a princess, so I shouldn't have to worry about that. I stand up and look out into the town that burns red as the sun rises. I grab my blanket, shake it off and stuff it in my sack. I take a breath and head town into the town.

As I walk among the people in the streets, I notice how gray an gloomy they look. They're heads are down, the walk quick and sharp. Their faces are dirty, their clothes are ripped and old. A guilty feeling creeps through me, why haven't I noticed how much our town was suffering? I could've helped them. I continue to walk, try to blend in. Then I see some guards up ahead, shoot! I quickly duck and run into an alley, I should probably stay off the main street.

"Hey you, stop!" A Guard yells from behind me

I break out into a run, the guards follow behind me. I can hear their footsteps getting closer, if they catch me, they'll know who I am in a matter of seconds.

"Stop!" They shout

I dash down the alleyway, take sharp corners and try to loose them, but nothing works. As I turn another corner, I crash into a young man, a crate goes flying into the air and smashes on the ground.

"Look what you have done!" He yells

"I'm so sorry but I have to go."

"What!" He snaps

"So sorry." I start to walk away but he grabs my arm.

"You're not going anywhere until you pay me for my loss of supplies."

"Please, I don't have any money."

"Then you'll work it off."

"Hey you there! Stop!" A guard yells from down the road

"Please, let me go." I plead

The guards march froward,

"Please." I plead again

The man looks at me then at the guards,

"I'm sorry if I let you go, they'll know it was me."

"Then come with me, I'm trying to save the kingdom."

"Where are you going."

The guards continue to near us,

"There's no time for that, you'll just have to trust me."

"Alright."

He lets me go and we burst out running, I hear the guards pick up the pace. We continue to run throughout the town but the guards slow and finally give up. The man and I stop running near the edge of town.

"Why... did... they stop." I gasp for air

"Probably wasn't worth their time." He says

"Oh."

"What's your name?" He asks

"Evel- Evie." I say

"Hello Evie, I'm Henry."

I smile at him, his messy blonde hair drops in front of his eyes. He looks back at me with piercing blue eyes, his face is narrow and has a very defined jawline.

"So why were they after you?" He asks

"I guess I looked suspicious." I say

"Why?"

"Well when they looked at me, I sorta ducked and ran." I shrug

"But why did you run?"

"It's nothing, just me being careful." I smile

He nods,

"So where are we going?"

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you." I say

"Try me." He smiles

"Well, I'm headed to War's Kingdom."

"War's Kingdom? You mean the make believe kingdom." He laughs

"No, it's real and I'm going to find them."

"Okay, but why?"

"To overthrow the King, he's had power for to long and he needs to be stopped."

"The King, you want to overthrow the King?"

"I have to, he's killed to many."

"Alright, I'll play along. Where is this War's Kingdom?"

"North, far up into the Calcein Peaks."

"The Calcein Peaks, that's weeks away!"

"I know, but I'm doing it."

"What makes you think that a young girl like you, is going to be able to go that far without being kidnapped or killed?"

"Well, I'll just have to be careful." I smile

He laughs,

"Well are you coming with me or not?" I ask

"You serious?" He asks

"Yes, dead serious."

He pauses and stares at me,

"Ah what the hell, I need time away from here anyway." He smiles

"Alright meet back here in a hour." I say

"Why?"

"Well you need to gather some things and I'm going to try and get some horses."

He nods and waves and he walks away. I take a breath, as long as Henry doesn't find out who I am, this should be fun.

I wait in the alley, two horses stand behind me. Where is he, he should be here by now. Then I see him come around the corner, he sees me and waves. I wave back as he walks up to me.

"You got horses." He says

"Yes." I smile

"Well, lets go then."

He walks over to a chestnut horse, puts his foot in the stirrup and pulls himself up onto the horse's back. I walk over to the black horse and do the same. We both click the reins and the horses trot off toward the gate. I pull my hood over my face, hopefully I can get through without being recognized. Two guards stand by the gate, as we near them they hold their hands up, motioning us to stop.

"Holt." One of them says

"Good day." Henry says

"Leaving?" He asks

"Aye." Henry says

"Date of return?"

"Um, unknown." Henry replies

"Where are you going?" He asks

"Ah just some near villages, with my wife here." He gestures to me

I smile and the guard raises his hand. The guard in the tower pulls a lever and the gate raises up. Henry nods to the guard and we gallop off. Hopefully we can reach War's Kingdom soon, and not run into any casualties.
