He's growing on me too, not gone yieeeeeeee
"Oh, what's up? What are you doing here?" Kyrie asked. Lauren placed her bag next to his things.
"Working out with my client." She shrugged. She also wanted to ensure that Kyrie attended his PT session which he had not. He would only train with Jerry and that wouldn't work for either of them.
"Lauren, so nice of you to join us." Jerry greeted. He didn't know the full reason, but he also didn't like that Kyrie was half-assing his recovery. "Ready Kai?"
He still had not said much after Lauren told him why she was there. All he could do was focus on his training.
The level of intensity wouldn't feel as bad if Kyrie showed up to physical therapy. This is what she learned from watching him wince during the more complicated exercises. Lauren observed his muscles flex and the emotional changes that caused his face to contort as he focused on keeping his pace.
"We're gonna take a much needed break. Lauren, can you stretch him out while I review some things?" She nodded and gave Jerry a thumbs up.
"Alright, get on the table Irving." He didn't argue, which she appreciated.
Working through a few stretches there was a comfortable silence between them, considering they had not spoken since that phone call in the middle of the night, it should be awkward.
"Have you at least been stretching before and after your work outs?"
"Sometimes." She added a bit more pressure causing him to grunt, "This ain't supposed to hurt."
"You're right, but had you been stretching before... this would be a different story." Now on top of him, she slowly pushed on his thigh as his leg stood in the air. Holding his calf with her other hand
"What you want me to say?"
"That 'I'll come to physical therapy and stop acting like a little puss.'"
He looked at her before grabbing her hands and moving them from his legs. Still hovering over him, she leaned back to give him room to lean forward. They weren't too far apart in height at this point, she had a small leverage on him. But Kyrie's eyes were far too intimidating to hold on for much longer. It made her feel smaller than she was.
"I'll come to PT, but I ain't never been pussy."
"You've been avoiding me, so I'll say you are. But what do I know." She shrugged, attempting to get up. Before she could climb off the table, Kyrie pulled her down by the front of her quarter zip.
"Like I said, I ain't never been pussy." She had no choice but to give him undivided eye contact as he smugly released her jacket and slid off the table. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"I knew I shouldn't have told you that shit." Lauren groaned as Marlene ranted and raved about Kyrie's unorthodox actions. She wanted to make sense of it all and Marlene was the only person she trusted with remotely anything, so here they were.
"I'm glad you told me. My suspicions are only growing more into fact and I love that for me!" Sitting down, she made sure to pour them both more wine. "Listen, what's the harm? You both are adults."
"My business is most important to me. I don't just get involved with clients. That's part of the reason organizations love me and individual players hate me. They can't get in my pants. It's bad for business."
"Yeah, if you're messy. No one has to know until people would have to know. He doesn't seem like the type to out you and also if it's just fun, I'm sure he's mature enough to keep it that way."
Lauren thought about that second hand, she knew that her reputation was first and her own probability to falling for someone was second. She feared she wasn't mature enough for something casual after shutting herself off from people for so long.
"So what do you have planned for tomorrow? And I mean outside of the good looking ball player giving you signals?"
Lauren smiled instantly feeling in the zone as she showed Marlene her layout of her routine for Kyrie. She was confident that her plan would work, and that he would be in great shape if he followed this routine. She loved what she did and it showed in the results of her work.
"Lauren Davis fine as hell." Naji Marshall concluded. A few of the other guys nodded in agreement. Once they had her name, they collectively passed around the phone with her profile on Instagram. Kyrie wasn't expecting half of his team to show up at his home to check in on him, but there they were eating his food and putting their body weight on his couches.
"You quiet over there Uncle Drew, you don't agree?" Dereck prodded. The young man always was too smart for his own good.
It wasn't that Kyrie didn't agree, he was trying to keep his mind off of it. He instantly felt something the moment he saw her in the hospital and it was the absolute worst time to just getting to know someone. It didn't make it better that she was supposed to be helping him get better and he felt uncomfortable around her because he knew himself.
Lauren Davis would be a distraction. She had the whole office siren look to her and he had HR level thoughts. Outside of the attraction, he just liked what she represented. After meeting, he did his research and he was impressed. Kyrie wasn't much of a fantasizer, he's had almost everything he's wanted in life.
But boy could he think up a thought about that woman.
"I ain't say that."
"You didn't say anything actually old man." Dwight snickered.
Smacking his teeth, Kyrie waved them off but they kept pushing it. "It's not that big of a deal, obviously that's an attractive woman. So what?"
"I just know I couldn't have nobody that fine stretching me out and massaging anywhere near my meat. You crazy bro."
Unfortunately for Kai he had an insane case of blue balls in the morning and even with the extra layers he put on, he felt exposed.
"Are you ready to start working?" Lauren asked setting up their first station for the day. Kyrie looked on as she wiped down the equipment and moved a few weights around.
"Yeah, I'm ready."
They started with a series of heel slides and ankle pumps. Lauren couldn't help but notice the discomfort on his face and felt bad. She thought the exercises would relieve his pain and not cause more stress but that wouldn't be the case.
"You wanna take a break? It seems like you need it."
"Yeah." The moment her touch left his body, he swiftly got up to go for a walk.
Taking a moment for herself she attempted to smooth her already slicked down hair in its bun. There was tension, a lot of it. And she was needed a cool down herself.
Kyrie stood in the bathroom trying to get himself together but it wasn't working. He didn't have the time he would need to properly get himself off. The swelling had gotten worse and his three layers didn't hide it.
"She's gonna think I'm a fucking weirdo if she catch me in here." He sighed as he ran the water to drown out his conversation to himself. "Whatever man."
Turning off the faucet, Kyrie made sure to dry his hands before leaving the room. He instantly caught her attention the moment the door opened. Examining him top to bottom, Lauren glanced over the source of his long bathroom session and eyes widened quickly before shifting her focus elsewhere.
What he was carrying wasn't small at all and it explained why he acted that way. Simply cause he could.
"You okay?" She asked not making eye contact.
"I'm good."
