Felida pov

We were nearing the town, I don't know how two fairies were going to question the townspeople and then not try to capture us, but earidin didn't seem to like being a fairy. No matter how happy it made me, it was like an injury to him like when I lost my wing and half my power. I would do anything to see him returned to the man he was before, now he plays it off as though it sucks but he doesn't care even though he does. It saddens him I can feel it.

"come on little one, it's only a foot high." My ranger had flown over a bump in the trail. I had to climb, and being 5" tall I was having to climb the foot tall mound.

"When I get up there I'm gonna disable your wing and watch you try to climb the next one. And I'm still in a dress ranger, it doesn't really help with trailblazing." With my rangers help I made it over it the top, probably showing more than I wanted to. Laying on the ground I gathered some of the corrupted dust from my wing, when I got up and we began to walk again I let my ranger in front then sprinkled it right between his wing. He jump like a human does when they're stung by a bee turning towards me looking furrious for a moment.

"what was that?" He was still trying to run his back.

"That was me temporarily preventing you from flying." I winked at him and walked on.

"The hell you mean by that?" I heard as he tried to take off only to have his wings misfunction and send him across the ground. The dust being sprinkled on his back would mess with the nerves for a short time making it so his wings would get a different order than he wanted to give.

I kept walking until we came to the next bump, shorter than the last but still taller than us. At least 10" tall. I stood to the side as a grumbling ranger fairy attempted to climb it. He fell twice as the loose rocks dislodged. I being used to this climbed right past him and stood at the top. Still, climbing rule #1 don't wear a dress if your not trying to show off your underwear.

Earidin pov

Even though I wasn't used to them yet I was still struggling not to use my wings, having them as a part of my body felt unnatural but at the same time I felt they should be there. I made the last stretch and pulled myself atop the mound, dusting myself off I decided it would be best not to tease the little one about not being able to fly anymore.

"Well the good thing is it looks like that's our last climb. Towns just around that corner there." I pointed to a bend in the road, once we get there we'll be able to see it. It's just a small no name village that people call a town but it does have a pub as well as a smithy.

"Good, but tell me ranger. How do you intend to pay for any of this? I think your coin purse shrank with you. Not to mention they might find you useful enough to keep, and being stuck on the ground makes me vulnerable, I'd be dead in a few days." She was already walking ahead of me.

"Well the plan was to use this dust off my wings." She spun around wide eyed.

"That's a terrible idea! If you shed enough to make a good pile it'll be at least a week before it regenerates and you'll be tired and powerless without it. That's not an option here."

"Well I'll figure out something little one, just trust me here. Okay?"

She sighed out the words."Ok fine. But if you even think someone is eyeing you, you have to run."

Then we made the turn to see the town. Looks like every ones asleep.....at noon......maybe there's a party somewhere. I was about to fly up but remembered little ones trick. "little one. How long is it gonna be before I can fly again?"

"Just a sec I'll fix it." She moved behind me and brushed a bit of dust off my wing then spread it across my back.

" Ok your good to go ranger." I took off high and fast getting full view of the village. It was empty. I spied a crater on the other side in a field, it had a small amount of smoke rising from it. Orange smoke. I flew back down to the little one.

"Its a ghost town. But there's..."

"some kind of magic was used Here. Some powerful magic at that." She seemed completely distracted moving towards the town. Towards the crater. I grabbed her shoulder and turned her towards me. Her eyes were glazed over as she sent a massive force of air into me. Sending me flying back.

I caught myself with my wings and flew back to her. Little one? What's wrong with you?" I moved in front of her only to meet another blast of air. So I flew over head. Towards the crater.
