He was on his very first summer camp, when he met her. He met girl with long chocolate hair and lovely smile for whom he felt the minute he laid his eyes on her. He told himself that it was a stupidity, because he, as a scientist, had no proof that love exists. Then again, he couldn't explain how so that his whole body tensed, when he got near her. He hoped the tense would go away, but after a few days watching her, his curiosity and knowledge about her didn't fade, in fact it grew even bigger. He found out that she's not only pretty but also clever and funny. He tried to focus on anything else, but it was worthless. He even enjoyed watching her playing with her friends near the see instead of putting back together his little car. He loved the thing that they were pretending to be some kind of princesses, while he sat under a big old tree, doing nothing. Yet it felt more exhausting than ever. That is what she was doing to him. She could just quietly sleep and she'd be still the most interesting thing on a planet.
Sometimes he got the feeling like she knew he was there. For example, when she looked in his direction with a smile on her face. He knew that the smile wasn't meant to him, but maybe one day... He was sure that her smile will never disappear and that she will always be the perfect girl... and also that he will never stop trying to own one of those smiles. But Leo also kind of knew that he doesn't have a chance at girl like her. Why would she bother to love him when she could conquer all the worlds? So he just silently watched her play with other girls wishing for her to come to him.
One day they were playing near the sea. They were jumping away from the waves laughing heartily. But he couldn't pay attention to anyone else. Just to the girl in the white dress. Even after all those minutes, her dress still glowed with the strongest white he'd ever seen. Every time she turned around, her skirt made a little bigger circle than it normally was which made her look like dancer. Well he more imagined her like an angel. He was just wishing for her to turn her face in his direction, so he could see how even for a second her hazelnut eyes sparks again. Those two circles in which he was getting lost every night when he tried to sleep.
But then something unexpected happened... a bigger wave came and before she had the chance to jump away it flushed his dream from the face of the earth. The boy paralyzed. He wasn't able to move, to scream, to save her. He was just watching her vanishing deeper and deeper to the ocean. And there was nothing he could do to stop it. She was gone. No, not gone... even worse, she was lost.
At the night, when everyone moved back to the camp, he was the only one who stayed. How so that no one was looking for her? She wasn't dead! She couldn't be! Scared Leo walked towards the ocean, sat down and started to cry. Between his sobs a quiet pray came out: „Please, please give her back. She wasn't ready to leave. She needs to save the world before you take her away from it. I beg you, you giant.... biatch, take me and giver her back."
The next day something miraculous happened. As one little wave came to his face, he realised that he felt asleep in the sea. He tried to close his eyes again to get back to his amazing dream where he ran towards the sea and saved her. A dream where he was the hero... where she was still alive. His efforts interrupter a tiny fishing boat which emerged on the horizon... But as it came closer he recognized something strange. A little character sitting in it. He couldn't believe his eyes. It was her. How was that possible? His prayers worked! The sea gave her back! He quickly blinked if he still weren't dreaming, but it was real! He started to believe that miracle even more when she elegantly jumped off, thanked the old fishing man and made a few steps towards him.
„You were watching me didn't you?" asked she softly and he nodded, amazed by her knowledge of his existence.
„I am Jemma." Smiled she and that was the first smile she ever gave to him. Sadly, she left before he could whisper his name back.
