REYANSH's POV
"Shh... Tara, I'm here"
"I won't let anything happen to you... I promise."
I whispered softly, squeezing her hands a little tighter, hoping to somehow ease the fear trembling through her. But deep down, I knew... I was making that promise more to myself than to her.
Her fingers clung to mine with a desperate grip, as if afraid that letting go would make everything around her collapse.
Her tears fell silently, her shoulders quivering with each shaky breath.
Seeing her like this...
So vulnerable. So scared.
It made something inside me twist painfully.
I gently ran my thumb over the back of her hand, trying to soothe her, though my own hands were trembling slightly too.
I was scared.
Not for myself... but for her.
I didn't know who was behind this or why they were targeting her.
And that made it worse.
I took a slow breath, steadying my voice.
"I'm here," I whispered again, barely above a breath.
And I'm not going anywhere...
"Tara..." I said softly, my voice steady but firm.
"I think you should tell your parents now... It's getting out of our hands."
Her eyes widened instantly. Without a word, she pulled her hands away from mine, breaking the hold.
"No... I can't," she whispered, her voice trembling with fear.
"They will scold me..."
I frowned slightly, trying to reason with her.
"But they're your parents, Tara," I said, my voice gentle but concerned.
"They won't scold you if you tell them the truth."
Her breath hitched, and suddenly, she snapped.
"Why don't you understand?!" she shouted, her voice cracking with desperation.
I flinched slightly at the intensity of her outburst. Her eyes glistened with fresh tears, and her voice wavered with the weight of her emotions.
"I studied in an all-girls school... never interacted with any boy other than my relatives because my parents wouldn't like it..."
