Part - 10

As nandini & albert left the room, manik called fab5.
Manik: hello guys.... How r u all??
Cabir: sale kamine, kal se ek bhi call nhi kiya... bata toh kya hua??
Mukti: haan ye manik, kahan h tu??
Dhruv: buddy nandini se baat hui ya nhi??
Aliya: how is she doing??
Manik: guys at least let me take a breath, aur kya batao tum logon ko...... when nothing happened at all & instead I m now admitted in her hospital.
Fab4: what??? Hospital?? Are u fine??
Manik: guys chill I m totally fine...
He told them everything whatever happened.
Dhruv: off course, she did right, u were anyways not taking care of urself.
Cabir: manik look at the brighter side, now u r near her & she will hv to take care of u... u'll definitely get to talk to her..
Aliya: yes manik cabir is right.
Manik: ya I too wish so... now I'll call u guys latr, otherwise this nurse will again go to her n complain that I m not taking my medicines....(lokking at angela standing by his side)
All the others laughed at it & manik disconnected the call. During night as manik slept, angela had already left after her duty, so nandini came to manik's room, she didn't want to leave him alone in such a condition. She just sat next to him & kept on staring him. She has been working since the morning & hence was tired, so unknowingly she slept over there only, sitting on the stool & resting her head on manik's chest. A few hrs latr, at around 3:30 am, manik got up, being thirsty & realized nandini sleeping there & said,
Manik: u show that u r angry but I knw u care 4 me the most, I want this care for my entire life.... I want u nandini.
He thought she must be tired & hence didn't disturb her. He wrapped his hands around her & slept. Next morning at around 8 am. Albert entered nandini's office & found it empty, he thought she must be tired & hence resting at home. So he decided to check on manik once, he entered his room & saw both of them sleeping.
Albert (to himself): she hasn't gone home all night.... If she is so much concerned about him then, why does she show her anger?
He smiled at the way manik wrapped her in his arms & left the room. After sometime manik got up & moved in sleep. Nandini got disturbed & she too got up, she opened her eyes & found manik's smiling face. Unknowingly her lips too got a smiling curve, manik caressed her face with his hand & slowly got up & kissed her forehead,
Manik: good mrng my love..
Nandini: (with a smile) good mrng manik...
Nandini rubbed her eyes & turned around to see the surrounding & just then she realized the reality. She immediately got away frm manik & started looking here n there, trying not to match manik's eyes.
Nandini: sorry I just came in the morng to check on u..
Manik: ohh really but when I got up during the night I saw u sleeping peacefully, so close to me..
Nandini: u must be dreaming.... Anyways I hv work, bye..
Manik: dr. wait...
Manik intentionally called her dr., he knew she wouldn't stop if he called her nandini. He got up & went towards her. She gave him a blank expression. He slowly went closer & took his hand up to her face, he caressed her face again. Nandini, though now fully in her senses, but she didn't wish to stop him. She had been missing this magical touch by him frm a long time.... She slowly closed her eyes & felt his touch over his face. As manik moved his hand on her face, her entire body was shivering with pleasure. Manik slowly moved his other hand to her hair & opened them. He came further close to her & whispered in her ears,
Manik: I want my old nandini back.... With her open hair, cute smile & the same old love.
Nandini immediately got back & ran outside his room. Nandini ran outside the room & went towards her cabin. It took her a few minutes to calm herself down. Manik's words left her in a different state, but as soon as she did come back to her senses, she turned to look at her watch. She realized that it was already too late & decided to ask some nurse to get her cloths frm her place & get ready, here only. She called the receptionist & asked to send some1 frm the extra staff to her cabin. 5 mins latr a girl entered & nandini asked her to get her bag, which she left in manik's room. The girl left 4 the work & knocked manik's room, he asked her to enter & she slowly said,
Girl: sir, dr. nandini wants her bag which she left here.
Manik: ohh yes u can take it.
She went to the table, took the bag & turned to leave. She was about to get out wen she heard manik say,
Manik: hey wait.... Can u plz give it me for a second.
Girl: but sir, its dr. nandini's bag
Manik: I knw its her's.... that's y I m asking 4 it
Girl: sir, how can u see a girl's bag n that too ur dr.'s
Manik: before my doctor, she is my fiancé..... so I guess, I can go ahead.
Girl: (with a slight smile) ohh sure sir..
Manik took the bag frm her & found the thing he was looking for,i.e., nandini's diary. He slowly took it out & kept it under his pillow making sure that the girl doesn't notice him doing so. Soon he returned the bag & she left. Nandini then gave her the house keys & asked her to get some cloths for her. As she left nandini started her work. She went through some reports & then sat for a while thinking about what happened in the morning in manik's room. She smiled at the way he opened her hair. Just then the same girl returned & nandini got into the washroom to get a bath. She got ready in about 30 mins & was teing her hair when she again remembered manik's words.
And that day for the 1st time, in the last 7 yrs she left her hair open outside home. She smiled as she herself had forgotten how she looked with her hair open. She returned back to her work at around 11am & thought to check on manik in a few hrs. On the other hand, manik made sure that he was alone in his room & opened nandini's diary. He started reading it & mostly found things related to her work, but other than that he got to know about her family in London & their where about. He got to know that rishab's treatment is almost over & also that he is now fully able to talk. For the 1st 4 to 5 entries he didn't find anything about her music, india or himself. But nandini had not missed his name while ending any entry, where she wrote her prayers. He was happy to knw that he is present in each of her prayers till now. But as he read the 6th one his eyes were in tears. She had written about one of her patients who was suffering from a chronic heart disease & all that girl wanted was to meet her love once before dying. But she felt it would be better 4 him not to knw anything about her death, so she died without even talking to him. Nandini wrote that she too will never try to contact manik, no matter what is happening with her as it was better for him to stay away frm her. She wrote that she loved him so much that she can't give him pain by cantacting him. He must would hv got married & moved on in life, & all she wanted was his happiness, even if she has to stay away frm him for that.
Manik dried his tears & placed the diary beneath his pillow again. He wanted to go to nandini & tell her that she was wrong, he wanted to make her understand that he will always be by her side, always hamesha... he got up & moved outside his room. He was slowly walking towards her cabin when albert saw him.
Albert: hey..... what r u doing outside ur room.
Manik: I wanna see her now...... at any cost...
Albert: but u can't manik.
Manik: I don't care I want to talk to her that's it.
Albert: manik she is in an operation & is not allowed to come out till its over. I promise to get u to her as she is free....
Manik calmed himself down & returned back to his room. He again started reading the dairy. He understood how much she needed him, how much she missed him & then finally he read the entry which she had written on the day, when she operated him in india. How she started blaming herself for whatever happened with him?? She mentioned the way he said her name while he was unconscious. How much happy she was to see fab5, navya & abhimanyu & then the way she got back manik to his senses & also her encounter with kavya & sameer. Manik smiled as he got a confirmation that all this was her work only. And at the last he read how she reached manik's room & found so many pictures of her over there. She felt that she made him suffer so much, he has been waiting for her to keep her promise, while she had no plan to even contact him. And then the last entry was of the day when she saw him at albert's place. That entry was full of fear of loosing him & guilt that he risked his life, only bcoz of her.
Manik simply kissed her dairy & kept it back, now he was waiting to confront her..... his eyes were continuously searching for her & the love, the sadness in them was clearly visible. Just a few mins latr, nandini n albert entered the room. It was around 5:30 by then. As nandini saw his devastated face, she ran towards the computer systems to check them & asked,
Nandini: are u fine.... U look ill.
Albert smiled at her as a few minutes back she wasn't even ready to see him, he silently left the room & closed the door behind him. Manik saw nandini's face as she checked everything & noticed her hair open..... he was happy to see that she agreed to him & kept her hair open.
Nandini: Mr. Malhotra....r u fine??? (in her serious doctor's tone)
Manik just nodded his head & she turned to check whether he has had his food or not, & found that he didn't even touch it
Nandini:mr. malhotra how can u be so careless.... U hvn't had anything frm the past 5 hrs.... how will u get well like this??
Manik: u too were in that operation frm the past 4 n a half hr.... and hence didn't eat anything..
Nandini went totally quite as she heard his words & then after a few moments she said,
Nandini: I m totally fine.... U r not well & u need energy to get back to normal.
Manik just sat quietly & stared somewhere at the other corner. Nandini knew that there was something wrong & that he was disturbed, but she didn't say anything & served some food for him in a plate. She came next to him & took the plate in front of him. He simply turned his face to the other side.
Nandini: u r not well & u have to eat this.....
Manik held her hand & made her sit on the stool next to him. He picked up the first bite & moved the spoon towards her. Nandini tried to back off but he held her hand & made her eat it. He took another bite & himself had it. Nandini saw that his hand was paining by this, so she snatched the spoon frm him & started feeding him. Time to time she too had a few bites. Manik stared at her & suddenly a lone tear rolled down his cheek. He immediately removed it, so that she couldn't notice but failed. Nandini got up & gave him a glass of water as she kept the plate aside. After that nandini was about to leave, when manik called her.
Manik: excuse me dr.
Nandini: yes
Manik: dr.... I wanted u to see this... ( picking up his phone)
Nandini: what??
Nandini went near him & waited,
Manik: actually me & my band members made this song a few months ago.... I wanted u to hear it once plz..... if u r free for 5 mins...
Manik passed his phone to her, with a vedio on.... It had a few pictures of fab5.....& the song started,

Along with a picture of fab5, holding stars in their hands. Nandini's eyes were filled with tears, she turned to the other side hiding her hace frm manik. And then manik said,
Manik: u left me as u thought that I will suffer with u & see what has happened, I m suffering till now...... at least that time u were there to protect me, to support me, but now I m totally alone...... plz nandini understand I m nothing without u, this time ur mind is on the wrong track..... u r thinking all rubbish, the only thing true is that both of our's happiness will come only if v r together.
Nandini wiped her tears & turned towards him & slowly said,
Nandini: manik...... can I plz ask for something frm u??
Manik: yes.... Sure..
Nandini: can I plz see some pictures of fab5, navya, abhi......and especially kavya & sameer.
Manik: sure.... Why not wait I'll show u....
Nandini passed his phone back to him & he showed her the photographs of cavya's, dhruliya's & mukbhi's marriage. And after that a few of kavya & sammer's birth, few having fab5 celebrating a few victories, and all the other memorable events.... Nandini totally forgot everything as she went through all of them. Manik told her about them & she was very happy to listen so much about her friends..... only a few pictures had manik also, but then too not more than 2 or 3, as nandini noticed, had his smilinf face. She lost count of time, in this & didn't realize that she was needed in the emergency room, her Doctor's Calling Device(DCD) was continuously vibrating but she was not realizing it at all. About 5 minutes latr, albert came into the running,
Albert: nandini why aren't u replying to ur DCD.
Nandini: DCD.....ohh shit.... I m sorry dr. I was just-
Albert: leave all that, u r immediately needed in the emergency ward. Someone had a very bad accident & has lost a lot of blood while coming here.
Nandini: ohk... I be there...
She turned towards manik & said,
Nandini: take care of urself..... and plzz have ur food on time.... I'll see u latr.
She ran outside the room & manik smiled at her.
Albert: I hv never seen her so happy ever before..... did u talk to her.
Manik: I tried, but as soon as I started, she requested me to some her some photographs. She has always been a very true friend to all & now as she saw her friends settled in life. All of them married, with children & fully successful, she became very happy. It has always been her habit, she becomes happy as she sees others happy.
Albert: she truly is a gem.... But what about the question which u wanted to ask
Manik: I don't wanna ask her anything, I just want to make her understand that she is wrong this time.
Albert: ohk... so now I'll take ur leave, I need to see if she needs anything in that emergency case.
Manik: ya ya sure.... Work comes first.... By the way how much time will it take?
Albert: we can't say anything.... It depends upon the patient's condition as well as on nandini.
Manik: but she has been working frm hrs..... she must be tired, plus she didn't even sleep properly last night.
Albert: she is used to such hectic day... don't worry about her she is fine.
Manik: I hope so...
Then albert left his room. Manik saw the time & found it was 7 in the evening & went to sleep. It was around 11 in the night when he got up & saw a nurse standing by the side. He asked her about nandini & she said,
Nurse: she came to check u after the operation about half n hr ago..... but she was very tired so she left 4 home.
Manik smiled at her & had the medicines she gave him. Manik called fab5, back in india & gave them nandini's wishes. They wanted to talk to her, so he said that he'll try to fulfill their wish.
