After school we all met back up in the cafeteria like we said we would.

"Alright, everybody here?" Noni asked holding her car keys.

We all looked around and nodded our heads simultaneously. "Alright let's get a move on! First day of school deserves a little celebration," She said mischievously.

I've known Noni long enough to know there is no such thing as 'little' in her vocabulary. Everything she does is in a very grand fashion. She's known to throw the best parties in this part of the city. She's a very global person. Those Virgo's are known to be very ambitious. So even if this get together is just us, there is going to be something devious involved.

We all piled into her Jeep Wrangler and headed towards her house while listening to a combination of 90's r&b classics. The afternoon had a very nostalgic relief that we all needed after this very eventful day. The sky was in the middle of becoming a plush cushion of gray. I sat relaxing in the passenger seat making sure to sneak glances in the rearview mirror every now and then to see Kaz. There was something about him that I couldn't shake off. I've had plenty of crushes before, but that's it. With him I felt like there was this mutual attraction. But a guy like him must have plenty of girls and not enough time to waste on me. I didn't want to bring attention to myself by telling Noni, because I know she would make the biggest deal, so I decided to keep it to myself.

We arrived at her 2 story home. From the outside, It looked like any other 2 story home on her street. Nothing too different. But on the inside of her house it was like entering a Afrocentric museum. The tangerine walls, the wood carved statues standing tall, and pictures of Civil leaders such as Malcolm X hung in every room. Her parents were one step away from becoming modern Black Panthers.

When we got inside, we all slung our stuff inside of her foyer and took off our shoes, then proceeded to head upstairs to her bedroom.

Her room was spacious and sunny. She had this all white theme to it. White walls, white carpet, white bed sheets, a white bean bag chair, with green and silver accents. It was different from the rest of her house. But of course she had to have some afrocentric art hanging above her bed.

Once all inside she locked her door, even though no one was home, and swiftly walked across the room to retrieve something from underneath her bed. We all sat in a semicircle on her floor with Brian claiming the bean bag chair. We all looked at Noni, waiting to see what she was going to pull out.

"My weed man wasn't picking up his phone so no getting high today, but I have alcohol and enough to last us until I say... Thanksgiving?"

"And I say amen to that!" Monaé said raising up both hands. "What's the strongest drink under there?" She asked.

Noni reached underneath her bed searching and ended up pulling out a Smirnoff Vodka bottle with at least 1/4 of the bottle filled with gummy bears.

"Bruh yes, my favorite," Kaz expressed throwing his head back gently.

"We should play that game 'Never have I ever'. That's the quickest way to get me drunk" Monaé said.

We all looked at her quizzically. "Whaaat?? Shit," she said defensively. We all started laughing in unison.

"We should play y'all," I say nonchalantly. Noni raised her eyebrows at me, smiling.

Kaz piped in, "Yeah, where are your shot glasses at Noni?"

"I'll go retrieve them," she said while getting up to exit the room. "Can I get some assistance?" she asked clearly agitated. Today really was a stressful day for her. She hated school.
