Auroras POV
It was 2 PM, and I was still sitting upstairs in the hot attic. Sure, I loved it here, but there was many problems. I live with my Aunt Lory, and Uncle Tim, since my parents died many years ago. Right now I'm 13, they died when I was 9. I shouldn't really say died though.. As I know something I shouldn't. My parents were actually shot, and had their organs ripped out of them. I.. I know I shouldn't think about it so I'll stop here.

"Get down here and do your chores!" Auroras uncle Tim screamed at her. He was probably drunk again. "I'm coming, I'm coming!" Aurora unlocked the latch to the attic as it swung down, giving her space to crawl down, she went Down and went to her Uncle. "I'm pretty sure I did all of my chores though." She gave him a confused look. "Oh you did do alllll of it," he slurred "but you're gonna do mine today." Not to start anything she went to do her chores, only to be stopped by her aunt. "You're not doing your lazy uncles work! He's going to do it." She shot a dirty look at him. He took a step back and grabbed a plate near the sink he was at, and threw it at her aunt, she ducked and the plate shattered when it cracked off the wall, Aurora moving out the way at the right moment. Her uncle ran towards her aunt, trying to punch her in the face as Aurora jumped into the middle, getting hit in the throat by impact. She closed her eyes as the blood ran to her head, and she passed out. "You knocked the kid out! Aurora are you ok?!" Her aunt shakes her as she ordered her a uncle to call an ambulance.
Auroras POV
My eyes started to open as I realized I was in the hospital, relieved I wasn't dead I smiled, staring at everyone in the room, noticing they weren't smiling. "What's wrong?" I voiced out, only to be shocked when I started choking. "Aurora.. You're a mute." My aunt told me. I gave her the saddest eyes I knew. 'M-muted?' I thought to myself. Quickly realizing it meant I was unable to speak. Tears formed in my eyes as I started to cry, but instead of a sad crying tone all you heard was sad whistling through my teeth. 'What a great life..' I thought.
End of POV
