I walked in the front door and mother walked over to me.

"What the hell are you doing here?" She screamed. "This is my time away from your ugly face!"

What she was saying could be true. I haven't looked in a mirror for so long, but I do remember my basic features. I had straight chestnut colored hair, the same color as fathers, that came down to my waist. My eyes were bright green, and I remember this because mother always tells me I look like a witch and should be burned to death. I try to keep my face clean, so when it rains, I use wet my jacket and wash my face and arms. I'm a little tall for only being eleven, but it's an advantage because I like to run. The only other things I'm sure about is that I'm in the sixth grade, and my only friend was dead.

"A girl died yesterday. There's no school today or tomorrow." I said lightly, with my eyes on the floor.

"Well isn't that just wonderful." She said sarcastically. "Go downstairs; I've seen enough of you already."

"Did you ever love me?" I knew I shouldn't have said it the moment it passed my lips. She took a step towards me and grabbed my hair. She yanked my head down and kicked me in the stomach. She always hit me where no one could see the marks. I winced in pain, but I wouldn't let her see me cry. She brought me upright again by my hair and slammed my head into the door, over and over again. Black spots were filling my vision and it was getting harder for me to see. I slouched to the ground, trying to fake a black-out. She leaned over me and said, "No, I don't love you."  She grabbed my arm and dragged me to the basement door. She put a foot on my head, and kicked me in the stomach with the other, then pushed me down the stairs.

The last thing I thought before I blacked out was I don't love you.
