Prolgue

I wasn't sure wether I wanted to go through with this plan. My bags were already at the doorway. Not too much stuff. Just enough to get me through the first two weeks in Carlifornia. Being in Texas all my life had made it pretty much hard to know how the rest of how America was. I was thinking something like New York but no. I probably wouldn't be able to make it through the first day. I looked at the clock that hung above the TV. 12.05 am. The bus would be leaving in less than thirty minutes. I didn't want to do this but they made me. My parents. Always so prim and proper. I got down the notepad from the top of the fridge.

Dear mum and dad,
I don't think I'd be able to stay here anymore. Too much has happened and is affecting me negatively. I know I let you down. And I'm sorry. I hope I see you guys soon but for now I'm going to start my life over. Don't look for me.

I used the fruit magnets to hang it on the fridge where it was pretty obvious. I know the note sounded pretty cold. No 'I love yous' but I didn't, at least not anymore. Everyone always thinking they were the perfect parents and I the misled and misunderstood child. That was what pissed me off the most. That was gone now. I wouldn't have to see them again anyway.

Opening the fridge I got out a soda and a left over sandwich from breakfast yesterday. This should last me for the day. I checked my pocket for my change, wallet, cellphone and earphones. My basic essentials. Picking up my duffel bag I gave my eyes one last scan round the house. Who knows when next I'll be here again. Closing the door behind me I was ready to start my new life. Here I come, Carlifornia.
