"The art of writing is the art of discovering what you believe." - Gustave Flaubert
The Gemme Community has always believed in perfection, whether it's for our community, or for our precio...
The title is unique, and I love the meaning behind it. However, I don't understand why it isn't capitalized. The cover is gorgeous, but the subtext and the author's name are difficult to read. The blurb provides a good understanding of what the reader should expect from the plot. Breaking the bigger paragraph into two parts would help the flow.
What's Happening? (Plot): 20/20
The plot of this story is very well thought out. The author pours their hard work into making the world and giving the characters strong personalities. The way the information is given is a perfect example of how a writer should introduce a backstory without simply dumping it into a paragraph.
I love how it reminds me of Game of Thrones when Myrcella was sent to Drone to marry Prince Trystane. The scene where Io starts to burn in the sun really made me wonder if Myrcella had the same issues.
Go With the Flow (Grammar): 13/15
The grammar and vocabulary are done well. Compared to many stories on Wattpad, the author is among the top tier. I advise removing many of the parentheses and adding them as an extra sentence or continuation to keep the flow. Some paragraphs are a bit long, and a few repeating words are close together, as well as a couple of easy-to-make mistakes that every author makes. A hard edit would fix most of the issues.
Look How Far They've Come (Characters/Development): 10/10
The representation in this story is fantastic! It isn't often that a main character is mute, and I get the feeling Io is on the autistic spectrum. The depth of her personality is explored thoroughly, and it's refreshing to see an author write such a person.
Out of this World (Worldbuilding): 10/10
The author introduces a plethora of lore and builds this world well. I like how much detail is given for the Gods and how the conflict between lands started. Using dialogue to explain much of it is a great way to provide information without making it seem like the reader is being bombarded with it.
I've Never Seen That Before! (Originality): 9/10
While holding the popular arranged marriage trope, this story is full of originality! I love how the author added their own spin to the genre, and I have nothing to say here. I only took off one point because there are a lot of common themes from other stories, but you deviate from them quite brilliantly.
I Need More! (Hook): 15/15
The beginning of this story is immediately hooking! The way Io gets dragged out of her room by the handmaiden is equally hilarious and intriguing. Then it continues in the same manner, with the reader wanting to keep going to find out how Io will fare in her parent's need to marry her off.
Keep 'Em Coming (Overall Enjoyment): 10/10
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. The use of sign language, the culture, and the potential for an amazing plot all made me want to keep reading. I would absolutely love to continue reading and supporting this story in my free time.
Overall:
"Eudaimonia" by qwertyliciousdef is an adventure romance story set in a wonderfully created fantasy world. The author has a talent for writing deep main characters and a plot that keeps the reader wondering what is going to happen and introduces a plethora of unique lore. The grammar and vocabulary are done well, and the representation in this story is fantastic! While holding the popular arranged marriage trope, this story is full of originality! I would recommend this story as a must-read!
