January: Garnet,The word Garnet comes from the Latin word granatum,which means seed. This stone looks a lot like a deep, red pomegranate seed. Way back in 3100 BC, egyptians used garnets in their jewellery

February: Amethyst, Amethyst is a light purple quartz stone that is supposed to protect you from poison. Ancient Greeks and Romans thought the stone would keep the wearer clearheaded. Put an Amethyst under your pillow to bring about pleasant dreams.

March:Aquamarine, The name for this gemstone comes 

from Latin words aqua, meaning water, and marina, meaning the sea. It's beautiful pale, blue-green colour is supposed to keep the wearer cool and calm. Ancient people thought it protected sailors from harm.

April: Diamond, diamonds stand for inspiration. They may appear colourless, but they actually come in a rainbow of hues including yellow,red,pink, blue and green. Here's the rule: the deeper the colour of the diamond, the higher it's value. Diamonds are a typical stone found in engagement rings and in tiaras, they are the hardest gemstone in existance. A diamond can cut right through a piece of glass!

May:Emarald,Derived from the Latin word smaragdus, 

an emerald is a green stone that comes from the mineral beryl. The stone, mined in Egypt as early as 330 BC, was the sacred stone of the goddess Venus. It had been known for centuries as a symbol of rebirth, and the person who wears it will have good fortune.

June: Pearl or moonstone,pearls the only made inside a living creature the oyster, have been treasured for centuries. The 1500s were known as the Pearl Age. Moonstones have a floating play of colour and light inside the stone called Adularescence,but they stand for confidence. The Roman natural historian Pliny named the stone for the changing cycles of the moon.

July:Ruby, Rubies are supposed to bring health, wisdom,wealth,and success in love to whoever wears them. The deep, red colour of the gem is most important to it's value. It is the second-hardest stone after the Diamond. What are some the most famous rubies ever worn? That has to be Dorothy's ruby slippers in The Wizard Of Oz!

August: Peridot or Sardonyx, Got nightmares? Peridot is supposed to protect you! This gemstone ranging in colours from olive to lime green.Legend says it's tears are from Pele the godess of fire and volcanos. The Sardonyx was taken to war by ancient Greeks and Romans. They engraved images of mars the god of war and Hercules for his super natural strength.

September: Sapphire, according to folklore, sapphire will protect you and your loved ones from jealously 

To medieval people, the stone represented the skies and heaven. Fun Fact: although it is the most common colour, not all sapphires are blue. There are red, pink, and green sapphires, too.

October: Tourmaline or Opal, Tourmaline comes in different colour combinations like watermelon Tourmaline that has green pink and white colour band's sliced to look just like fruit! 

The word Opal comes from the Greek word Opallos, meaning to see a change of colour.

November:Topaz or Citrine, for thousands of years, all yellow gems were called Topaz, but this isn't entirely right. For one thing, not all topaz are yellow it comes in brilliant orange and pink.It is said that it gives you health and positive energy.

December: Turquoise or Zircon although this stone is a Turkish one.Dating back to the thirteenth century we probably know it know from the style of jewellery that originated in America Southwest. Zircon comes from the Arabic words Zar and Gun,meaning gold and colour although the red variety of the stone is the most prized colour.
