"JOEY! GET OFF YOUR SCRAWNY ASS! NOW!!", stern drill Sargent Hefly said. As I scrambled to my wobbly feet, I stood firmly at attention. He lowered his voice to be calm, but still firm, and said, "Now. who do you think would like to make fun of my 'hilarious name'?" Brad stuttered, whispering, "I would sir".
Hefly stepped over the soft mixed colored gravel as he stopped abruptly in front of Brad. Brad took a huge gulp, closing his eyes in regret of saying that. Hefly chuckled at his (what he referred to) 'sad excuse for a life' personality. He then grabbed his limber shoulder, threw him on the stiff ground and yelled, "NOW IF YOU WANT TO MAKE FUN OF MY NAME YOU CAN DROP AND GIVE ME FIFTY PUSH-UPS!, OR IF YOU CAN TAKE YOUR LAZY, SAD EXCUSE FOR A LIFE, ASS BACK TO YOUR HOUSE AND CRY ABOUT GETTING KICKED OUT OF THE MILITARY!!!". Brad started doing triangle push-ups and was mumbling to himself about signing up for bullshit like this. Hefly grinned angrily as Brad got up and whipped his hands off.
Hefly dismissed my team and we all headed to the mess hall. I was in the middle of the line when the lieutenant suddenly came from the mail room up to me and gave me a letter that smelled of Daisy Florance perfume. I quickly noticed it was from my lovely wife, Tracey.
It has been three brutal years since I'd seen her beautiful face. The last time I had saw her was when we tried having a child. We tried several times, but it just wasn't working out. The last night we tried, she checked the pregnancy test once more. It read the sign positive. Tracey was elated! When we had gone to the doctor, he said that we should stop trying. And that our baby wasn't going to see the world. She stumbled out the door as if she was going to faint. I called the doctor and he got a sturdy wheelchair for her. I was four hours before I had to board the plane to leave for West Sacramento, California to go to bootcamp.
Tracey was on the phone chatting away with her mother telling her that the doctor said she couldn't produce childern.
