Caged in a desk
Spend if eraser disturb
The ugly splatter
On the plastic wood.
Count down the hours
The minutes, seconds
Till we are set free
Tick-tock tick-tock
It clatters in your head
Foot tapping to its rhythm
The smell of too much perfume
And body sweat.
Drama, lies, hormones
Thick and heavy in the air.
It clings to our copy-cat
Clothes and drips
From our hair.
Dull thoughts and silent
Complaints, questions,
Confusion.
That is all a school day
Has to offer anymore.
Cool kids pounce on
The weak ones
Bullies with pretty smiles.
Tick-tock tick-tock
A time bomb
Just waiting, achingly
To explode.
Every so often,
You hear a growling stomach,
A gossiping whisper
A frustrated groan.
Heavy heads resting
On desks.
Just waiting to implode.
