"Caroline! I have a fantastic idea, you'll love it." Caroline groaned. The last time her best friend, had a "fantastic idea" they had both wound up in jail for the night. It's a long story, and one Caroline didn't have time for because Georgia was currently stalking toward her at a breakneck pace. Caroline grabbed the last of her books quickly because soon Georgia was at her locker and slammed it, barely missing Caroline's hand. She yelped and then turned to glare at her best friend.
"You almost chopped off my hand, you breadstick." Caroline snapped. Georgia smiled sheepishly before assuming a straight face.
"No need to be so dramatic babe, back to business. We should try out for the school musical. Whaddya say?" Georgia smiled cheekily at her, and batted her eyelashes. Caroline adored Georgia, she was quirky, musically gifted, and an all-around darling. But Georgia knew that Caroline couldn't sing a tune, and couldn't dance to save her life. Caroline narrowed her eyes playfully at the petite red-head.
"Where's the sudden idea coming from? You usually try out for the musicals without me, and you've never asked me to try out with you." Caroline prodded. Georgia looked down and looked at her from under her eyelashes.
"Well... You see, the main character is supposed to have a best friend in the musical." Caroline raised her eyebrows at her, urging her to continue. "And Ivy Marks is trying out for that part. And I hate Ivy." Georgia finished. "And you think that I would be able to get the part instead of Ivy? Me, Caroline, who can't dance and can't sing, over Ivy, who has participated in every single musical for this school and has gotten all the parts that she's auditioned for?" Caroline deadpanned.
Georgia sighed and looked down at the floor. "I know," She sighed sadly. "I just don't want to be alone with her the whole ti- Wait!" Georgia's eyes lit up and she looked up at Caroline. "You're good at art right?"
"Um, I-I like to think so." Caroline stuttered in response. Georgia beamed, "That's perfect! You can work backstage! That way you won't have to destroy anyone's eardrums or make them rip out their own eyes. And you can create the sets!" Georgia shoved Caroline towards the office, "Go! GO! Go get a sign up sheet!" She looked nervously back at Georgia and started walking toward's the main office.
Georgia was a music fanatic. Anything musical happened and she was involved. Georgia had bright blue eyes and messy, shoulder length red hair. She was short too, maybe 5'2. She was the cutest girl and had so many little quirks that Caroline adored.
As Caroline entered the office, she tucked her dark brown hair behind her ear. She walked over to the desk attendant and cleared her throat. The desk attendant glanced up, annoyed that Caroline had interrupted her game. "Can I help you?" She asked irritably. "Um, I'm just here for a stage crew sign-up sheet." Caroline fidgeted as the attendant got up to grab the paper. As she sat back down again, and handed Caroline the paper, she snapped her gum loudly. Caroline took the paper and grabbed a pen and began filling out the paper.
"You're going to need to take that to the drama teacher and she'll sign it. Then you'll be good to go." She said and Caroline scurried out of the office quickly. Caroline was easily flustered and got nervous around people she didn't know. Or adults, she wasn't very good at talking to adults either. She walked towards the drama classroom and approached Miss. Yancy, the teacher.
"Uh, hi. My name's Caroline and I, uh, have a stage crew sheet. Do you think you can sign it? If not that's okay." She finished quickly. Caroline had to restrain from facepalming herself. But instead of getting irritated, Miss. Yancy smiled at her and took the paper and signed it for her.
"I'm so excited to have you working with us during the musical! It's such a fun experience and I'm glad that you'll be part of our theater family!" Caroline nodded slowly and walked out of the classroom, not saying anything. She headed off to her first period class, completely unaware of what she had just gotten herself into.
